Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) made a bold decision to abandon her family in tonight’s Emmerdale as she fled the village with baby Ivy.

As viewers of the ITV soap will recall, Rhona’s ex-husband Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna) arrived on her doorstep last year asking her to take care of a baby that was genetically, but not legally her own.

In a story pre-dating Rhona’s stint in the show, during her marriage to Gus she had frozen embryos that he had later used to conceive a baby with his new wife Lucy.

Following her death during childbirth, he admitted all to Rhona and asked her to look after baby Ivy whilst he took time to grieve.

In tonight’s (February 8th) episode, Rhona was devastated that Gus had made the decision to move away to France with their daughter, prompting Marlon (Mark Charnock) to contact a family lawyer.

'Emmerdale' TV Show, Episodes Ep 9816-Ep 9833 UK - Oct/Nov 2023 Emmerdale, is a British ITV long running soap opera, known as Emmerdale Farm until 1989, set in Emmerdale, a fictional village in the Yorkshire Dales. It was created by Kevin Laffan and was first broadcast on 16 October 1972. It was originally produced by ITV Yorkshire and is still filmed in their Leeds studios.

Spending potentially one final day with Ivy, Rhona got emotional as Gail Loman (Rachel Gill-Davis) spoke about how hard it was for her to give up son Oscar when he was a baby.

Noticing her sadness, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) invited Rhona into the backroom of The Woolpack for a heart to heart where she urged her to fight for custody for Ivy, mentioning the regret she still feels for the years she lost with her own son Ryan Stocks (James Moore).

When Marlon returned home after his shift, he realised that his wife had packed her bags and drove off with the baby, prompting mother-in-law Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson), best mate Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) and friend Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) to join his search party.

Things went from bad to worse when Gus returned looking for Ivy, with Marlon convincing him to allow her to spend one more night in Emmerdale before he went to France.

But with Rhona still missing, and ignoring voicemails as she drove aimlessly through a woodland late at night, what will Marlon do if she doesn’t return in the morning?
