Emmerdale fans reckon an exit could be on the cards for April Windsor in a heartbreaking prison twist.

Teenager April (Amelia Flanagan) went missing from the famous village back on Christmas Day, following a row with her dad Marlon (Mark Charnock). She was last seen getting in a strange car driven by a mysterious individual.

And last week, the soap aired a special episode that focused on everything she had been through since fleeing the Dales – including sleeping rough and witnessing a brutal stabbing and m.u.r.d.e.r on the streets.

What’s more, in a shock twist it was revealed that April was pregnant when she left the village, with a panicked April feeling as she was worried it would cause more drama in her family.

However, in tragic scenes, April gave birth to a stillborn baby in a public toilet, before she was found passed out on a bench in a nearby park.

After recovering in hospital, April returned to the Dales and is being supported by her loved ones – who are aware of her heartbreaking baby loss. According to April, the baby’s father was just a “random” she met at a party last year.

April also confided in Ross Barton (Mike Parr) about the baby, insisting she never wanted it. However, clearly still affected by her past ordeal, April has been struggling, while dad Marlon has attempted to do what he can to help settle her back into the village.

But in what would be a devastating twist, viewers reckon April could face legal backlash for her actions and get sent to prison.

Fans have predicted a prison exit

Writing on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person mused: “I thought the police might have arrested April and charged her for abandoning the stillborn?”

Other seemed to agree, as a second person penned: “If that ends up happening they won’t arrest her for a long time. Maybe a few months.” A third chimed in: “I really hope not, but the actress is due a break after this storyline so maybe.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
