EASTENDERS have FINALLY unveiled who attacked Cindy Beale – but did you guess it?
An unidentified person hit Cindy (Michelle Collins) over the head with a shovel at Christmas.
With nine suspects in the frame, viewers speculated who was responsible.
Tonight’s episode revealed Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) was the person responsible.
A furious Cindy arrived at No.45 armed with Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) gun.
She discovered Ian (Adam Woodyatt) holding their daughter Lucy’s locket – which was taken in the attack.
Believing this confirmed her suspicions of Ian, she confronted her ex-husband.
However, the Walford veteran insisted it wasn’t him who attacked Cindy.
Ian claimed their son Peter (Thomas Law) had been the person responsible.
As Cindy grappled with this surprise revelation, she was in for a further shock.
Beale matriarch Kathy arrived in the house and begged Cindy to leave Ian alone.
She confessed to a stunned Cindy to having left her for d.e.a.d at Christmas.
Kathy said: “It was me. I saw what you did to him. I saw him throw you out. Out in the snow.
“And I thought that was it. That you were gone, that all of this was finally over.
“Ian, he just fell to pieces. He went crazy. And I had to stand there and watch that. Watch what you had done to him.”
Then, Kathy outlined what happened after she spotted Cindy later that night.
She said: “My only regret? That you are still breathing.”
A tussle soon ensues over the gun – with Ian being shot in the arm.
He later pleaded with Cindy to come to an arrangement – not wanting Kathy in prison.
Things took a turn when Cindy shoved Ian into m.u.r.d.e.r.e.r Reiss Colwell’s moving car.
This set off a tragic chain of events resulting in an explosion tearing through the Queen Vic.
