Emmerdale legend d.e.a.d as star exits soap in tragic way after years in cast
This article contains spoilers for the episode of Wednesday February 19, now available to watch on ITVX.
The d.e.a.t.h.s just keep on coming as a further tragedy has rocked Emmerdale fans to the core.
In another gripping visit to the village of the damned, we have picked up where we left off – with ambulance crew declaring one of those in danger as d.e.a.d before they even reach the hospital.
Be warned, the name is coming soon – if you don’t want it spoiled and are yet to see the episode, you might want to cover your eyes and obliterate your browser.
Following the crash into the ice lake, Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) has already lost her life, having sustained a head injury that instantly k.i.l.l.e.d her in the vehicle.
Amy Barton (Natalie Ann Jamieson) plunged through the ice into the freezing depths while Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) had passed out, looking in a bad way.
Away from the lake, a woozy Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) had collapsed, with it currently being a mystery over what is wrong with him.
Elsewhere, Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) was bleeding out badly after being brutally injured and Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) had done everything to try and get her out.
Listen, it’s no secret that Roxy is leaving the show after nearly 17 eventful years – and what an exit to receive.
Devastatingly, as Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) raced around the hospital trying to find traces of his mum, he eventually learnt the awful truth and was forced to say the most painful of goodbyes.
But there was so much more going on in the hospital, with loved ones despairing over the losses (so far? Who knows!?) and others waiting for news.
And the drama is far from over, with the episode ending in another big twist that could have serious repercussions.
Who will make it through this? And who is still in danger?
As for actress Roxy, she has often spoken fondly about her time on the show.
She recently expressed her deep love for Emmerdale, telling fans how much she appreciates the opportunity to play such a dynamic character for so long: ‘It’s been an incredible journey. The people I’ve worked with over the years have become like family, and I’ll always cherish the memories we’ve made together.’
For fans, however, saying goodbye to Leyla will be a blow as her character has been a fixture in the Emmerdale village for close to two decades.
Emmerdale airs this episode on Wednesday February 18 at 7:30pm on ITV.
