Emmerdale‘s April Windsor will face more heartbreak next week, as she decides to take a brave step following her recent return home.
April ran away from home after Christmas, enduring weeks of living on the streets in which she saw her new friend Becca k.i.l.l.e.d in a stabbing. After the revelation that April was pregnant, she was seen tragically suffering a stillbirth in a public toilet, with nobody willing to help her.
April has now returned to the village and has been struggling to open up to her family about what she went through while she was living on the streets.
In scenes that will air next week, April takes a big step when she reveals that she wants to go and register her stillborn baby’s birth.
Later on, April surprises dad Marlon Dingle and stepmum Rhona Goskirk further when she tells them that she wants to go back to school again.
But when she heads into school the next day, April overhears a pair of girls talking about her in the toilets and she starts to feel even more lonely.
Will April be able to open up to her loved ones about how she’s feeling?
Amelia Flanagan, who plays April, has spoken out about her character’s harrowing storyline, saying that she feels “so lucky to have been trusted with this incredible and heartbreaking storyline”.
“So many people helped make this episode happen, and every single person put their everything into it,” she added. “Working with @missingpeople.uk has been eye opening and such a crucial part of getting this right. Thank you to @emmerdale for this incredible opportunity. Forever grateful for being able to pursue my dream.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
