Midsomer M.u.r.d.e.r.s detective joins Beyond Paradise in major series announcement
Beyond Paradise will return very soon with Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd back in Shipton Abbott.
Former Midsomer M.u.r.d.e.r.s detective Jason Hughes is set to join the upcoming series of Beyond Paradise. Jason played DS Ben Jones in the ITV series alongside John Nettles, who played the lead detective, Tom Barnaby.
The actor will join Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) in the Death in Paradise spin-off, along with many other famous faces, including Hugh Dennis and Caroline Quentin.
Series regulars Zahra Ahmadi, who plays DS Esther Williams, Dylan Llewellyn, who plays PC Kelby Hartford, Barbara Flynn, who plays Anne Lloyd, and Felicity Montagu, who portrays Margo Martins, will all return to Shipton Abbott.
Martha’s old flame Archie (Jamie Bamber) will also return along with Jade Harrison as CS Charlie Woods and Melina Sinadinou, who plays Zoe Williams.
The first-look images of the new series hint at the heart-warming relationships and puzzling mysteries to come, revealing a line-up of guest stars.

Hugh Dennis has joined the series as local councillor Arthur Donelan, Steve Oram, and Gabby Best will play Humphrey and Esther’s Cornish policing counterparts.
Chizzy Akudolu (Holby City) has returned as Reverend Kate, while Kevin McNally and Caroline Quentin are farming rivals George Ellis and Lotty Lewes.
The images also introduce a new character – Bella Rei Blue Stevenson as Rosie – who arrives as their newest foster placement in Humphrey and Martha’s life.
Other guest stars include the likes of Angela Curran, Abra Thompson, Joseph Ollman, Alexandra Gilbreath, Alicia Charles, Matthew Gravelle, Brandon Fellows, Abdul Salis, Silas Carson, Syreeta Kumar, Amy Morgan, and Oliver Hembrough.

The synopsis for the upcoming series reads: “The team faces a host of baffling cases in the upcoming series, including a body discovered in a river on the county border, a perplexing chocolate box poisoning, a long-standing farming feud, and a spiking incident at sea.
“Away from the police station, Martha and Humphrey must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame Archie presents an unexpected challenge.
“Meanwhile, Esther experiences a surprising twist in her personal life, Anne confronts painful memories following a health scare, and Kelby embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery.”
