Emmerdale fans fume as Mary’s real secret exposed in Leyla twist
Emmerdale fans found out what Mary Goskirk had been hiding for weeks on the ITV soap this week, and it turns out Leyla Harding had known about it before she d.i.e.d
There was a big discovery on Emmerdale this week, and Thursday night’s episode not only exposed Mary Goskirk’s secret but it revealed someone else knew about it.
Mary has been hiding something from grieving Vanessa Woodfield, shown guilty over something. Vanessa’s girlfriend Suzy Merton d.i.e.d alongside Leyla Harding and Amy Wyatt last month in a d.e.a.d.l.y limo crash.
Vanessa had no idea though that her beloved partner Suzy was hiding something, with Mary also sharing that secret ever since. Not only that, but Thursday’s scenes revealed Leyla also knew about it and kept it from her pal Vanessa before she d.i.e.d.
Thursday’s visit to the Dales saw the funerals of Leyla and Amy air, with Vanessa distraught. Mary continued to act weirdly and it could not be more obvious she was hiding something.
Even on Wednesday night she was seen battling turmoil with fans convinced she was in love with Suzy, before finding out it wasn’t a one-way feeling. Flashbacks that aired on Thursday night confirmed Suzy was in love with Mary and wanted to be with her.

She told Mary that she wanted to leave “second best” Vanessa for Mary, and was hoping Mary felt the same way. As the pair shared a tender moment in Vanessa’s home, Leyla caught them and realised what was going on.
Leyla gasped as she spotted them kissing, and Mary fled the house. Since then Mary has been supporting Vanessa, while trying to hide her own grief.
Mary then had to hide her thoughts on the matter when Vanessa confessed she planned to propose to Suzy before she d.i.e.d. She then asked Mary if she thought Suzy would have said yes leaving her feeling awkward, knowing the fact Suzy would have left her had she had the chance.
But Mary lied to cover up the secret, claiming Vanessa was “the one” and would have said yes to marrying her. Viewers were fuming over Suzy’s comments about Vanessa though, with her claiming not to love her and being ready to end things in secret.
Taking to social media, one fan said: “I can’t believe anyone would talk Vanessa down the way Suzy did to Mary, it makes me sick.” Another fan said: “Mary and Suzy????” as a third added: “The flashbacks really made me gasp as well.”
A further comment read: “Suzy talking down to Vanessa like that BEHIND HER BACK, calling her second best, saying she doesn’t love her and wants to end things with ness, proceeding to kiss Mary.”
