Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise star breaks silence on Selwyn Patterson’s replacement in ‘heartbreaking’ update
Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise star Shaquille Ali-Yebuah has opened up about Selwyn Patterson's future and promised fans that the show will have "heartbreak" and plenty of "shocks"
Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, the latest star to join Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise, has shared some insights into Commissioner Selwyn Patterson’s (portrayed by Don Warrington) uncertain future. In a sneak peek of this week’s instalment, viewers saw the Commissioner’s replacement, Sterling Fox (played by Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge).
Yet, the fate of the Commissioner on the tropical island remains a mystery, but Shaquille, who plays Officer Seb Rose, hints at “heartbreak” along with numerous twists and turns to come in the series.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, he expressed his sentiments about Don Warrington’s longstanding role: “Don Warrington is the heart of the show from season one to season 14. 14 Seasons he’s been there from the beginning. Even when there were new detectives, he just stayed there, and he’s like the foundation.”
As for the potential newcomer, Shaquille gave some insight: “The character is played by Trieve Blackwood Cambridge, who’s a very good actor, very cool guy, we got to meet and bond on set.”
“There’s going to be ups and downs, there’s going to be surprises, there’s going to be shocks, there’s going to be heartbreak.”
To round off his revelations, the actor portraying Seb Rose enthused: “There is so much, and it just gets better. Every episode gets better.”
A sneak peek from the upcoming episode reveals a hint of Selwyn’s successor. The clue is dropped when Catherine intriguingly asks, “Has Selwyn told you what is happening tomorrow? The person taking over from him arrives.”
The summary for Friday’s instalment states: “Mervin and the team delve into the murky world of online dating as they investigate the murder of a man in his villa. The victim was awaiting a woman he had connected with on an app when their video call was abruptly interrupted by an intruder.
“However, Mervin is baffled by the discovery of a bullet in the victim’s hand. In the meantime, a new colleague makes a memorable entrance for all the wrong reasons, and Mervin doggedly reopens his mother’s case, drawing the attention of a dubious character.”
Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise returns on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
