Emmerdale’s Steph confronts Cain as Anthony d.e.a.t.h drama continues

"If you can’t tell me, then I know he'd lied."

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale‘s Steph Miligan has cornered her parents Ruby and Caleb, as well as Cain Dingle, in Anthony Fox’s d.e.a.t.h storyline.

In tonight’s episode, Steph still wasn’t convinced her grandad Anthony had left the village of his own accord and was determined to find out what really happened.

Earlier on, it was revealed that Ruby k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony, seeking revenge after he repeatedly abused her as a teenager and fathered Steph (who’s unaware Anthony isn’t really her grandfather).

Caleb has been helping Ruby since Anthony’s d.e.a.t.h, while other characters are also implicated in the cover-up.

In new scenes, Steph found a gun in Caleb’s safe and confronted her parents about it, asking whether they’d used it on Anthony. Caleb lied and told her he’d bought it to k.i.l.l Cain after he and Ruby slept together.

“That gun has nothing to do with your grandad. It was for Cain, alright?” Caleb told Steph. “I bought the gun and I went up to the farm.”

Pleading with her to let it go so they could move on with their lives, Caleb and Ruby tried to convince Steph they were telling the truth. She softened up, but told her mum she would check their story with Cain and headed to his place.

There, Steph ordered Cain to tell her what went on with Caleb.

“If you can’t tell me, then I know he’d lied,” she said smugly.

To Steph’s surprise, Cain quickly backed up Caleb’s story, leaving her no other option but to believe her parents.

After she left, Caleb, who was hiding in Cain’s living room, thanked his brother for helping him out.

At the Woolpack, Ross Barton caught up with Steph, sharing his concerns about her mental health over Anthony’s disappearance.

She insisted something was off with her parents’ version of events, suggesting that Cain had been tipped off before her visit and was covering for them too.

Ross tried to reason with her, telling her there’d be no going back if she involved the police. But Steph vowed she would see this through.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
