Emmerdale return ‘confirmed’ after five years as village left reeling after alarming news
Emmerdale viewers could see a blast from the past next week as the ITV soap is set to mention a character who hasn't been seen in the village for five years
Emmerdale fans are in for a shock next week as a familiar face makes a ‘return’ with a devastating update.
Kim Tate recently hired Ross Barton to keep an eye on Joe Tate, who is currently battling chronic kidney disease and desperately needs a transplant.
Joe had previously drugged his half-brother, Noah Dingle, hoping to use his kidney, but was informed by his private doctor, Dr Crowley, that Noah wasn’t a match. This led Joe to target another family member, his uncle Caleb Milligan.
In a twisted plot, Joe manipulated doctor Manpreet Sharma, gaining her trust and pretending to pay off a blackmailer to win her over. He then tricked her into providing him with a sample of Caleb’s blood without revealing his true intentions.
After discovering that Caleb was a suitable donor, spoilers reveal that Joe will proceed with his disturbing plan next week. In the upcoming scenes, Joe has a conversation with Manpreet, which Ross observes with interest, reports Leicestershire Live.
Ross later shares this information with Kim, who insists she needs solid proof of Joe’s plans. Later in the week, Dr Crowley and Joe have a secret meeting in a lay-by to finalise the details.
However, their meeting is interrupted when Ross knocks on their car window, leaving Dr Crowley seriously unnerved and wanting to delay unless Joe can resolve the situation.
Ross is set to receive a distressing phone call informing him that his brother, Pete, has been assaulted. In the ensuing drama, Ross dashes off to see Pete in hospital, leaving the path clear for Dr Crowley and Joe’s sinister scheme.
Fans of the soap will feel a wave of nostalgia at the mention of Pete, who hasn’t been seen in the village since 2020. Portrayed by Anthony Quinlan, Pete left the village in 2020 to join his brother Ross in Liverpool, following Ross’ own departure in 2018.
With Ross having made a comeback last year and Pete now being talked about off-screen, viewers are left wondering if Pete might make a return to the village after five years away.
In real life, 40-year-old actor Anthony, who played Pete, has shifted his focus to health and fitness. Since leaving the beloved ITV soap, he has started a vegan supplement company and an online coaching service, helping clients to “lose weight and get lean”.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
