Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve figured out who’ll be accompanying Brenda Walker on her cruise, and it’s not Nicola King.
Brenda, portrayed by Lesley Dunlop, has been a mainstay of the soap since 2008, featuring in major storylines including overcoming a brain tumour.
However, last November it was revealed that Lesley would be leaving Emmerdale after a 16-year stint. Recently, the Dales-based drama has begun setting the stage for Brenda’s long-term exit.
As fans will remember, Brenda recently discovered she’d won two tickets for an all-inclusive luxury three-month cruise. But following her break up with Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) last year, Brenda initially didn’t want to go on the trip.
Brenda ended her relationship with Eric after discovering he’d used her savings for a fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme. Eric was scammed due to his Parkinson’s symptoms, leading Brenda to call off their engagement.
Recently on the soap, when Brenda decided she didn’t want to go on the cruise, her friend and cafe co-owner Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) expressed interest in the tickets for herself and husband Jimmy (Nick Miles).
However, in Monday’s episode (April 1), Brenda informed Nicola she’d changed her mind and was going on the cruise, reports Leicestershire Live. It didn’t take long for Nicola to secure the spare ticket.
Emmerdale viewers seem to have cracked the case on who will be joining Brenda for a life away from the village—and it doesn’t look like Nicola will be the one. Fans are sharing their hunches on social media, with many convinced that Eric is set to reunite with Brenda and leave the Dales behind.
Discussions have taken off on an Emmerdale Facebook fan group, where one fan expressed: “Nicola is annoying me now, I hope she goes with Brenda.”
Another devotee shared their prediction that after 39 years in the soap, it’s Eric’s turn for a fresh start, commenting: “I think Eric will leave with her and they can have their happy ending!”. A fellow soap fan concurred: “I said this last week too.”
Meanwhile, another remarked on the potential departure: “I would be sad to see Eric go but I want them to get back together.”
