Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ John’s secret – and he’s not a serial k.i.l.l.e.r
Emmerdale viewers think they know what John Sugden is really hiding on the ITV soap after the character amid theories he could be a serial k.i.l.l.e.r, and he might not be a baddie after all
There’s a theory surrounding John Sugden in Emmerdale that if correct could rule him out as being a baddie.
Despite him shown losing his temper this week and him clearly hiding something, some fans are wondering if his villain hints are all a misunderstanding. Viewers are convinced he’s a serial k.i.l.l.e.r and may have m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d Nate Robinson.
Some fans are also sure he’s behind other drama including Chas Dingle’s collapse and the upcoming allergic reaction that Jacob Gallagher has this week. A new theory suggests fans have got him all wrong though, and that we’re being led down a misleading path.
A new theory suggests he’s actually one of the good guys, and possibly an undercover officer or a police informant. Fans have wondered if he is in the village for intel on some of the residents, and whether he actually isn’t the villain he’s made out to be.
All will be revealed about John’s secrets this week it seems with the soap teasing flashbacks and revelations. Some fans think John didn’t really bury Anthony Fox’s body after his daughter Ruby Miligan k.i.l.l.e.d him recently.
They believe Anthony is still alive and John, an informant, is keeping this secret. Some recalled how when the illegal fighting was going on at the farm last year it was John who called the police on them all.
Taking to social media one fan said: “I think John works for the police and Anthony isn’t d.e.a.d. Remember last year John informed police about the illegal boxing at the farm”. Another fan agreed: “Is John an undercover cop?” as a third added: “I think John is lying and I wonder if he is an undercover police officer?”
It comes as fans wondered if the character was experiencing a psychological phenomenon called hero syndrome, also referred to as saviour complex or hero complex. The phenomenon causes the person experiencing it to seek recognition for heroism.
Sharing the theory online, one fan posted: “I definitely think he k.i.l.l.e.d Nate but I’m unsure on whether it was intentional or not. My theory is he makes people ill to ‘save’ them and be a hero and maybe Nate d.i.e.d before he got the chance because John got distracted by the fire.” A fan responded: “This is a good theory,” as another viewer said: “Think you might be right there, mate.”
A further comment said: “Okay is it just me or does anyone else feel John has this hero syndrome? Because whenever there’s someone hurt he always knows what time and what place like is that just me thinking that.”
Another viewer commented: “I have thought this. Everyone thinks he’s a serial k.i.l.l.e.r but I think maybe he just gets off on saving people and even hurts them in order to be able to save them.
“I don’t know how that explains Nate’s d.e.a.t.h though unless it was an accident that went wrong.”
