ITV Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher ’emotional’ as seven-year-old daughter lands soap role
Kelvin Fletcher's seven-year-old daughter Marnie is following in her dad's footsteps as she made her TV debut.
Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher was ’emotional’ as he shared that his daughter is following in his footsteps.
Best known for playing Andy Sugden in the ITV soap, Kelvin took to Instagram to share that his little girl, seven-year-old Marnie, had landed a role on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks playing the character of Lexi.
The 40-year-old actor proudly shared a clip of Marnie acting on the soap and an image of her beaming behind a clapperboard as she made her debut. He said that watching on as a chaperone made his heart “beam with pride” and he felt “completely fulfilled”.
In the heartfelt Instagram post, Kelvin said: “Marnie made her TV acting debut last week as she joined the fantastic cast of @hollyoaksofficial. I was her ‘chaperone’ and I can’t begin to tell you the emotions I felt standing there watching.
“To be standing behind the camera, watching my 7yr old daughter act for the first time in front of the camera, brought so many feelings back to when I first started acting and it felt so surreal to be there witnessing it all again but this time, as a parent.
The proud dad shared that Marnie had also been on Blue Peter
“My heart was beaming with pride and it was genuinely one of the very few times I’ve felt completely fulfilled. To see your child find their passion and chase that feeling is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things to behold.
“What a moment for me and more importantly, what a moment for her. Well done darling.”
He added how his own acting career is going, as he said: “P.S. The same week she got that casting, I didn’t get two! Typical.”
Marnie seemed to be loving every minute as her dad was ‘bursting with pride’
If Marnie wasn’t already successful enough, Kelvin posted another clip of her to his Instagram Stories where he confirmed she had also landed a role on Blue Peter. The proud dad shared a video of her working on the farm, as he wrote: “And if Hollyoaks wasn’t enough, she was on Blue Peter!”
Kelvin’s fellow soap star friends flooded the comments with support and praise for the dad and his young actress daughter. Emmerdale’s Danny Miller said: “Always was gonna be a star lad!”
Another actor from the farm, Natalie Anderson, said: “Wonderful” with a love heart and clapping hands emojis. Hollyoaks star Gemma Merna added: “Ah she’s amazing.”
