ITV Emmerdale Robert Sugden’s brutal m.u.r.d.e.r ‘exposed’ after surprise return

Emmerdale fans believe that Robert Sugden is in for a shocking and brutal demise following his surprise return to the village.

The Sun recently revealed that Ryan Hawley, who portrayed Robert from 2014 to 2019, will make a limited return to the soap next month, six years after his departure.

During his final year on the show, Robert stood by his sister Victoria after she confided in him about being raped by car salesman Lee Posner.

Fuelled by rage, Robert ended up k.i.l.l.i.n.g Lee after the villain denied the assault. Following his arrest and guilty plea, Robert was handed a 14-year prison sentence.

Now, Robert is set to make a brief reappearance as his ex-husband Aaron Dingle prepares to tie the knot with his brother John Sugden, who has been hiding his own dark secret, reports Leicestershire Live.

In a recent twist, it was revealed that John was responsible for Nate Robinson’s d.e.a.t.h after he gave him an unknown substance with the intention of “saving” him.

However, Nate had a fatal reaction to the medication, with John later dumping his body in a river, only for it to resurface in the lake where the tragic limo crash occurred.

Speaking about Robert’s return to the soap, a source told The Sun: “It’s the biggest secret in soap land but Robert is returning to Emmerdale.

“Ryan has a lot of respect for the show and its fans and he really wanted to give them a treat so he agreed to come back for a brief stint.

“It’s going to be a huge surprise for fans, especially the Robron fans who have missed Robert desperately since Ryan quit.”

The insider concluded: “Nothing was seen as being too extreme to keep the secret with fake names on scripts, smuggling him in and out of the studios and keeping everything very tight.”

Emmerdale has yet to comment on the news of Robert’s return.

Following the news of Robert’s upcoming stint, several Emmerdale fans have taken to social media to share their theory that he could face a brutal d.e.a.t.h at the hands of John.

A Reddit user speculated, “I have thought that maybe Rob may d.i.e at the hands of John, especially as his return is for a limited time. Tbh I would be devastated. Love Robron!”

Echoing that sentiment, another fan added, “What if in the light of what John did and Robert’s return, Aaron decides to break things off.

“John then gets mad and attacks Aaron, revealing he was the one who put Aidan in hospital in the first place, and Rob returns in shining armour and saves the day or d.i.e.s trying, putting an end to Robron forever.”

Meanwhile, other avid viewers believe John’s offences will come to light in the village, ultimately leading to a confrontation with Robert behind bars.

“I have absolutely nothing to back this up, but for some reason, that I don’t even know why I think John and Robert will meet in prison,” one fan speculated.
