Tyler Perry’s House of Payne | Is Ella Back At The Help Center Because The Church Apologized To Her?
You see, I run the help center down at my church again — and it has had me really busy lately.
When I first watched the episode, I didn’t think much of Ella mentioning she’d been tied up with the help center. But on rewatch, during her conversation with Elaine, she clearly says she’s been busy running the help center again. That’s a pretty big deal.
Why? Because it confirms something that wasn’t fully addressed onscreen — Ella is back in good standing with the church.
If you recall, things went south when Ella tried to help Regina — the woman who married Deacon Bobby and was being abused. Ella brought the issue to another deacon, but Regina denied everything. And instead of believing Ella, the church turned its back on her.
It was heartbreaking. Ella, a devoted member for years, was cast aside. She even considered finding another church.
But now, things have changed. After Bobby’s recent arrest and Regina finally seeking help (thanks to Glow), it seems the truth came out. Ella has been quietly vindicated.
In fact, next week’s episode synopsis reveals she’ll be hosting a Bible study at her house. That’s more than a casual gathering — it’s a clear sign that she’s been welcomed back by the church community.
So yes, it explains her packed schedule. She’s back to doing what she does best — serving others through the help center.
That doesn’t mean she’s completely off the hook for avoiding Laura, but it’s still a nice moment of continuity. The show didn’t need to spell it out — the clues are there for viewers paying attention.
Personally, I remember saying during Season 13 that I wouldn’t blame Ella if she never went back. After all, sometimes people leave the church not because of God, but because of how people in the church treat them.
And Ella had every right to feel betrayed. She stood up for what was right, and instead of support, she got silence. Now that the truth is out, everyone acts like it’s all good again. But deep down, that kind of hurt doesn’t just go away.
Still, I respect her choice. She’s doing the right thing — not for validation, but because it’s who she is. That’s why I can’t be mad at it.
Bottom line: Ella is back at the help center. That says a lot. And I’m glad the show followed through, even in subtle ways.
