Emmerdale’s Tom King to have affair with familiar face in cruel Belle Dingle twist
Emmerdale's Tom King has been cruelly manipulating wife Belle Dingle for months, and it seems he could be about to take things a step further by embarking on an affair
Emmerdale is set to inflame couple tensions as Belle Dingle’s husband Tom King gets cosy with Gabby Thomas.
Tom stirred emotions in the recent episode when he was arguing with Belle, who is hurt and visibly disturbed by his blatant fondness for Gabby. This isn’t surprising, as Tom has been diminishing and mocking her for months which includes making fun of her family and respectability, while infiltrating seeds of self-doubt about her life choices and career progression.
Yet, it doesn’t stop there, Toms domineering and controlling nature has been apparent in their relationship. His constant efforts to manipulate Belle, control her life and detach her from her loved ones have been evident. One such failed attempt was to pry Vinny Dingle, Belle’s good friend away from her.
Tom’s obsession with trapping Belle spilled over when he installed a tracking app on her phone, and a surveillance camera in their house disguised as “for their puppy”. Nearly caught by Vinno while he was going through this app, Tom strikes him impulsively leaving him unconscious, before shifting gears and pretending to be his sympathizer, reports the Mirror.
Belle felt uneasy about Tom’s sudden protectiveness towards Vinny and is unsure about his motives. In the latest episode, Tom makes it clear that he wants Vinny to find a girlfriend so he can reduce his time spent with Belle.
He deliberately plans outings excluding Belle and goes as far as blaming her for leaving their pet Piper home alone. Tom recently installed security cameras at home, unbeknownst to Belle, not for safety reasons but to keep tabs on her. This was not due to the break-in, which Tom had actually staged.
In the latest episode, Belle appeared upset as she was left alone all day with the dog while Tom took a day off work to spend time with his mate Vinny. However, when she found them at the pub, she discovered Gabby had joined their “lads only” drinking session. Tom then made Belle look controlling, insinuating that she kept him on a tight leash and might “drag him home”.
He continued to big up Gabby, something he never does with Belle, often calling her out instead. Belle watched as he praised Gabby for being attractive and successful and for having children young, while pressuring Belle to start a family.
It was evident he was trying to make Belle feel inferior in front of “amazing” Gabby, much to Belle’s annoyance. Tom grinned at Belle’s unimpressed reaction, clearly hoping to make her feel jealous and worthless. But could Tom take things further amid his constant praise and compliments for Gabby? With him calling her “a knockout” and “a catch”, could Tom end up having an affair with Gabby just to hurt Belle?
