ITV Emmerdale star Dean Andrews breaks silence on soap future as he says ‘it’s not up to me’

Will Taylor star Dean Andrews has opened up about his future on Emmerdale amid a brand new storyline with Rose and Dawn, as he admitted his future plans for when he leaves the show

Emmerdale actor Dean Andrews has opened up about his future on the ITV soap.

Dean has played Will Taylor on the show for several years, and is now part of a huge new storyline with his daughter Dawn following the arrival of Rose. It was initially not revealed who Rose really was, but it was later confirmed she is Dawn’s mother and Will’s ex.

As he fronts this new storyline, Dean has discussed his time on the ITV soap so far and if he would ever leave the show. Whilst he admitted it wasn’t in his hands, he did confess that he would retire after this role.

“We are like a little family and I do feel settled here. When the producers originally asked me if I’d like to come in, they said how long would you like to say and I said if I come in now, you’ll have to kick me out. I’ll stay as long as they want me to stay, however long they want me to stay is up to them but I’m of an age now, I’m in my 60s, so I’ll probably retire after this job,” he said.

Dean admitted he was very “settled” on the show, and joked he sees his on-screen wife more than his real life one.

“I feel very settled. The other stuff we do (as actors), we’re there for three, four, five months or whatever we are and then we all disappear and go and do other stuff then we come back but here, I remember before I came in and people were saying it’s like a family but it really is. We are together – I definitely see Claire (King) more than I see my own wife.”

Christine Tremarco has joined the cast of Emmerdale as Rose, and teased what fans can expect from Rose

She said: “I am thrilled to be joining Emmerdale! To be working with such a wonderful cast and crew along with the brilliant writing and production team is an absolute joy! Rose is so much fun to play. She is free spirited, boisterous and totally mischievous with a steely edge and a big heart.”

Producer Laura Shaw added: “We are massively delighted to welcome Christine Tremarco to the Emmerdale Family. Christine brings a wealth of experience and talent and playing the character of Rose, a true free spirit with an exuberant outlook on life, she certainly promises to cause a real storm for some of our villagers.”
