Next week on Emmerdale, John’s secrets look set to be exposed as his past misdeeds finally come back to haunt him. Will this cast a shadow over his planned wedding to Aaron?

1. John is cornered by Cathleen
John crosses paths with Aidan’s mum Cathleen, who mentions that there’s been some big news regarding her comatose son.
Cathleen asks John to join her on a visit to see Aidan. However, with friends and loved ones also at the hospital due to Harry’s illness, John doesn’t want to be caught visiting Aidan.
Later, when John’s name is mentioned, Aidan’s eyes suddenly open.
2. John receives unexpected news
John is shocked when he learns that Aidan has woken up from his coma. John returns to Aidan’s bedside, keen to find out just how much he remembers about their shared past.
As Aidan is non-verbal, John holds out hope that his secrets are safe for now.
3. Belle makes a discovery about the Nate mystery
Belle digs deeper into Nate’s disappearance, realising that it’s out of character for him to cut all contact. She soon discovers that Nate never arrived for his job in Shetland last year.
Cain is alarmed by the news, but it’s Belle who takes control of the situation as she considers reporting Nate to the police as a missing person. John persuades her not to, insisting that Nate must not want to be found.
4. Nate’s fate looks set to be revealed
John’s stressful week continues when he learns that the water company will be dredging the nearby lake following the recent contaminated water scandal.
Nate’s arm can be seen looming below the surface of the lake, just waiting to be found if the work goes ahead as planned. What on earth will John do now?
5. Mackenzie struggles with his guilt
Mackenzie remains under the mistaken impression that he’s to blame for the contaminated water scandal that put Harry in hospital. Harry is still on a drip and Mackenzie faces a big backlash over what’s happened.
Oblivious to the true source of his misery, Mack turns to unlikely ally John for support and breaks down in his arms.
Later, Mackenzie decides that he’d be better off pulling out of being Aaron’s best man. This news crushes Aaron, who wants his best mate by his side where he belongs, so John comes up with a plan to fix things.
6. Moira doubts the future of the farm
There’s misery ahead for Moira as she faces a hefty bill for the clean-up following the unfortunate slurry spill at the farm. Her insurers are failing to pay out over the incident, so Moira realises that she could be facing financial ruin.
In a candid moment with her husband Cain, a defeated Moira admits that it may be time to turn her back on the business forever.
7. Moira faces painful memories
Ross’s long-lost brother Lewis pays another visit to the village and Ross decides to make another try at building up a bond with him. Lewis makes progress when he manages to coax some family secrets from Ross.
Later, Lewis wants to meet Moira, who’s full of apprehension over the situation as she reflects on the dark day that she k.i.l.l.e.d his mum Emma. Moira soon starts to crumble as the painful memories are brought back to the surface.
8. Ross and Mack get an idea
Ross is intrigued when he learns that Lewis is growing weed. Sensing an opportunity, he acquires some of the cannabis plants from Lewis.
When Mack is brought into the picture, he and Ross consider this as the answer to the farm’s ongoing financial problems. However, when they realise they don’t have enough cannabis plants, they come up with an alternative plan.
9. Sarah receives some unexpected news
Sarah attends an appointment at the fertility clinic as she moves forward with her plans to have a baby. However, Sarah is shocked as the doctor reveals that she found some inflammation while examining her cervix, which could be a sign of cancer.
Afterwards, Sarah struggles to confide in anyone about the news, especially as Cain and Charity are distracted by their own issues. Feeling isolated, Sarah awaits the results of her biopsy alone.
10. Nicola comes to the rescue
Nicola frets about the village water supply. Charity tells her that the scandal has left Mack a broken man.
Calling on some handy contacts, Nicola is proud of herself when she manages to arrange an emergency water supply for the village.
