EastEnders’ teases dramatic exit for Walford resident after 4 years on the BBC soap
EastEnders aired a new worrying plot for one local during Monday's episode
EastEnders has hinted at a dramatic departure for Zack Hudson (James Farrar) as he becomes increasingly concerned about his family’s safety in Scotland. Earlier this year, Zack found out that he was the father of Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman), the result of a past fling with Barney’s mum, Nicola (Laura Doddington).
The chef has had a rough couple of years, dealing with the loss of his baby daughter, Peach, whom he shared with ex Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty). Zack and Whitney later welcomed Dolly into the world, but she was taken away by Whitney after discovering Zack’s infidelity. Zack is now determined to be a good father to his son, Barney. However, the young lad’s true parentage remains a secret in the Square, with Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) believed to be his real father.
Nicola, who is intent on keeping Barney away from Zack and the truth hidden from her husband Teddy, resorts to extreme measures, reports Belfast Live.
When physical intimidation from her henchmen failed to deter Zack from revealing the truth, Nicola escalated her tactics – confessing that she was behind the d.e.a.t.h of Shireen Bashar, and threatening to do the same to Zack, Whitney and Dolly if he didn’t back down.
In Monday’s episode (May 19), available on iPlayer, Zack confirmed that Whitney has been relocated to a new home in Inverness, but she remains anxious about Nicola discovering her whereabouts.
Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) suggested that Zack should visit Whitney to provide support, but Zack quickly dismissed the idea.
Later in the drama, Zack seemed to reconsider his plans when he confessed to Vicki: “I can’t stay here. Whitney, Dolly, Britney, they deserve to be happy and the further away I am from Nicola Mitchell the better.”
Vicki advised him smartly: “If I were you, I would be on the first train into Inverness”, but Zack quipped in response: “Maybe not the first train, there’s something I’ve got to sort out first.”
Determined to secure a better future for his son Barney, Zack shared: “I never wanted Barney living with those psychos, and I thought ‘you know what, they’re his family as long as he is happy’, but he ain’t happy.”
He declared resolutely: “He wants to be as far away from them as possible. When I leave, I’m taking Barney with me.”
The million-dollar question remains – will Zack bid farewell to Walford and how will he persuade little Barney to embark on a new adventure in Scotland with him?
