ITV Emmerdale: ‘work out’ Liam Cavanagh’s secret son in huge Barton twist

Emmerdale fans believe they’ve “worked out” Liam Cavanagh’s long-lost son, and he’s already in the Dales.

The local GP first graced our screens back in 2014 and has been at the heart of numerous gripping plots since then.

His daughter, Leanna, was tragically k.i.l.l.e.d by serial k.i.l.l.e.r Meena Jutla in 2021, and last year, Liam began a relationship with child k.i.l.l.e.r Ella Forster, before having an affair with his current fiancée, Chas Dingle.

Liam also played a part in the soap’s dramatic limo crash in February, which led to the untimely d.e.a.t.h.s of Leyla Harding, Amy Barton and Suzy Merton.

Now, Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Liam is set for a surprise family reunion following the introduction of new character Lewis Barton, reports Leicestershire Live.

Lewis made his first appearance last week as Ross Barton’s secret half-brother. Prior to his arrival, Moira Dingle stumbled upon a letter addressed to “The Family of Emma Barton”.

Despite her apprehension, Moira informed Ross about the letter, leading him to arrange a meeting with Lewis.

However, he found it challenging to answer Lewis’s probing questions about their shared past without revealing the family secrets he’s kept hidden for years.

Long-time viewers will remember that Moira was behind Emma’s d.e.a.t.h in 2017 after the villain abducted her baby, Isaac, and taunted her about being an unfit mother.

Emma even insinuated that Moira was responsible for the d.e.a.t.h of her own daughter, Holly Barton, who sadly passed away from a drug overdose in 2016.

Emma’s secret son, Lewis, had his first encounter with Moira in the latest Emmerdale episode on Tuesday (May 20), which is now available to stream on ITVX.

As Lewis acquaints himself with his newfound relatives, some Emmerdale fans are speculating that he might actually be Liam’s offspring.

Given Emma’s background as a nurse, viewers are piecing together theories that she may have met Liam in a professional setting.

Lewis Barton arrived in the Dales last week

A curious fan posed the question on a Facebook fan page: “Who do you think Lewis’s father is?”

Another replied: “Liam. Emma was a nurse, he could have met her in the medical field through work somehow and had a one night stand?”

“That would be nice for Liam if they do that storyline,” a third fan mused, while someone else added: “Love this idea.”

Meanwhile, another viewer questioned: “I think so too but wouldn’t he be roughly the same age as Leanna so he’d have to probably been a cheat to produce him and is that really Liam? I could be wrong and they may have a bigger age gap so it could be him.”
