Debbie Dingle left Emmerdale village in 2021 and the ITV soap has shared a devastating update on the popular character as her family members were left heartbroken

Emmerdale has shared an unexpected update on Debbie Dingle four years after the character was last seen in the village.

Fans will remember Debbie (Charley Webb) left with her son Jack Sugden Jr following an argument with her mother Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) but left behind her daughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).

Various members of the Dingle family have visited Debbie in Scotland since her departure but her loved ones was left gobsmacked during Thursday’s (May 22) episode as Sarah made a shocking discovery.

As Sarah picked up the phone to tell her mum to tell her she’s at the early stages of cervical cancer, Debbie revealed that she’d emigrated to Australia.

This wasn’t the only bombshell by Debbie as she also shared that she’s married her partner Chris three weeks ago, leaving her family members heartbroken.

Sarah told her gran Charity: “They just got there this morning. They just got there when I rung.

Charity added: “I actually can’t wrap my little head around this because let’s face it nobody just emigrates to Australia just like that, do they?

“There’s hours, months filling out forms and answering questions and all the paper. That little cow must have known about this for ages.”

Charity later phoned Debbie’s dad Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) to meet him and he was equally disappointed with their daughter.

As Charity suggested that Debbie was being controlled by her new husband, Cain called Debbie and she told him that it was her idea to move to Australia and Chris wanted to stay.

Cain later got emotional as he wondered why all his children were leaving him as he referred to his son Nate Robinson (Jurrel Carter) moving to Shetlands last year.

Nate hasn’t been in contact with any of his loved ones for months leaving them concerned for his wellbeing.

However, viewers are aware that Nate was accidentally k.i.l.l.e.d by John Sugden and his body is currently floating in a lake waiting to be found.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
