Emmerdale’s Paula Lane pays tribute to young son as he lands first role alongside Doctor Who legend

Emmerdale’s Paula Lane has paid tribute to her young son Arthur, who will make his acting debut in a film alongside a Doctor Who legend later this year.

The actress, 37, best known for playing Kylie Platt in Coronation Street, now plays Ella Forster in Emmerdale.

Paula has two children, Arthur and Penny, with her soap star husband Tom Shaw.

Recently, Paula took to the social media platform X to share how proud she is her little boy will soon star in a film with Doctor Who’s Matt Smith and Lord of the Rings’ Morfydd Clark.

The film, titled Starve Acre, is dubbed as an ‘unsettling folk horror’. It is set in the 70s and follows the Willoughby family when their life gets turned upside down as a result of their young son Oliver acting out of character.

It comes to UK and Irish cinemas on September 6.

Taking to X, Paula shared news of the film and wrote alongside: ‘Go Arthur. What a debut’, with a heart emoji.

Paula has played the character of Ella in Emmerdale since the start of this year.

Up until a recent episode of the ITV soap, Ella was established as a kind and thoughtful person who just wanted to make some new friends.

She connected well with Mandy (Lisa Riley) and also Dawn (Olivia Bromley) but lately, focus has been on a developing relationship between her and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

With fans suspicious Ella is hiding something, recent pictures were released of the character and Liam attending the funeral of a lady called June Phillips.

Things will subsequently turn nasty, with one of the funeral attendees getting into a showdown with Liam.

He makes a swift exit but the funeral-goer, evidently upset, chases after the local GP with a heated confrontation ensuing, with things getting out of hand as the tension reaches boiling point!

Ella – who was also spotted laying flowers – intervenes, urging the two men to stop the violence, but she soon finds herself on the receiving end of the funeral-goer’s rage.

The question is: just who is June Phillips in relation to Ella? Is it someone she knew?

And is this funeral attendee a relative or a former friend of the village’s new GP receptionist?
