An ITV Emmerdale newcomer has opened up on ‘causing havoc on the farm’ and his bromance with soap legend Jeff Hordley.

Shebz Miah, who plays Kammy in Emmerdale, has appeared at a press conference for the ITV soap to discuss his first months on the show. Kammy has been at the centre of much mischief in the village as well as being involved in a love-triangle featuring Sarah and Jacob.

The acting star is a self-confessed Emmerdale fan and his enthusiasm for the show is plain for all to see. Opening up on joining, Shebz said: “I’m a Bradford lad. It is literally 15 minutes (away). Emmerdale is Yorkshire heritage and to be able to join something like that, so close to my home city, is truly amazing.

“As an actor, I couldn’t have asked for a better job. I get to play a cheeky kid who is just causing havoc on the farm. What more can you ask for?” He added: “You can’t live where I am from and not watch Emmerdale.” Shebz has openly admitted to being in awe of his co-stars during his first weeks.

He said: “Where do I begin? Definitely, I’d say Jeff (Hordley is someone he’s in awe of). As I say, just like how Emmerdale is part of Yorkshire heritage, when you think of Emmerdale you think of the Dingles and instantly you think of Cain (played by Jeff Hordley). I’d definitely say Jeff without a doubt.

“Also, Emma (Atkins), who plays Charity. Instantly, when you think of Emmerdale, you think of iconic characters like that. Definitely those two.”

And, the outgoing Shebz isn’t shy to tell his colleagues how much respect he has for them. He joked: “Oh, definitely. All the time (telling them of his admiration). Jeff knows it. He accepts it. It is actually so funny.

“When I first joined, we were taking character photos, individual pictures, and this completely by chance and Jeff knows I’m a massive fan of him, and my cast photo was in the garage and I’m wearing my puffer jacket.

“Out of curiosity, I just went to see what Cain’s looked like back in the day. I went back and funnily enough, the pictures look quite identical. He’s wearing a black leather jacket and he’s got this smoulder, as well as Kammy, so I went in work and said ‘oh, Jeff you’ll never guess what? Look at this photo.

“I showed him the side by side comparison and he was loving it. I think he fully understands that I’m a massive fan of his.”

Jeff Hordley has also acted as a mentor to his up-and-coming co-star during their short-time working together. Shebz concluded: “Even with his character, I think Cain does see a version of himself in Kammy. They have similarities. Maybe not to the extent that Cain was like back in the day but there’s a lot of similarities. Cain does have that warmth towards Kammy.”
