EastEnders legend ‘devastated and angry’ over ‘complete nightmare’ wedding

EastEnders star Shane Richie has revealed the sense of anger which follows as Alfie Moon’s wedding to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) devolves into a ‘complete nightmare.’

Scenes this week saw Alfie decide to propose to Kat as she set into motion plans for her new limousine business.

Kat accepted, and the loved-up couple set about preparing to get married for a third (and hopefully final!) time.

However, the course of true love never did run smoothly – and this is especially true in the case of off-again, on-again, off-again, on-again lovers Kat and Alfie.

Things come to a head on the day of the wedding, with tensions simmering over a pornographic video on Alfie’s computer and his problems in the bedroom department due to recent cancer treatment.

With the big day quickly approaching, Shane has weighed in to speak about where it all goes wrong for Kat and Alfie… again.

As the week begins, Alfie is thrilled to be marrying Kat again. This isn’t their first (or second) rodeo, but they’re no less excited, and Alfie’s hoping it all goes off without a hitch.

‘Alfie is so excited to be marrying Kat again, it feels like it’s meant to be,’ Shane revealed.

‘Obviously, this is the third time for them, but it feels so right. Kat and Alfie belong together, so a wedding is the icing on the cake.’

However, there are tensions when Kat discovers a sexually explicit video on Alfie’s computer, and believes it to be his.

Unaware that the video was actually downloaded by son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) at the behest of his new friend Joel Marshall (Max Murray), Kat begins to feel rejected.

‘Kat is feeling a bit unloved because she keeps trying to get some alone time with Alfie and he keep swerving her. Alfie just wants to show Kat that he loves her, so he gets everything ready for a lovely night in. But it all goes a bit wrong as Kat has also got an idea of how to get some romance going…’ Shane revealed.

But things backfire when Alfie doesn’t react as expected to Kat’s advances.

‘She’s giving it the full bombshell works, but Alfie isn’t expecting this at all, and his reaction isn’t what she was hoping for. Kat flies off the handle because she’s feels all rejected and, as usual, Alfie messes up his words so he’s back in the doghouse.’

Between parenting their troubled son and attempting to navigate Alfie’s erectile dysfunction, what should have been the happiest day of their lives (again) is left in tatters.

‘It’s a complete nightmare for Alfie. He’s trying to juggle many plates and dropping more than a few,’ Shane said.

This leads to Kat deciding to call the wedding off, leaving Alfie heartbroken.

‘Alfie is completely devastated and angry. Everything is ready and all she has to say is ‘I do’ but now she’s saying it’s off. This is Alfie’s nightmare,’ Shane continued.

But can Kat and Alfie resolve their issues? Asked whether he wanted to see the Walford icons make it down the aisle again, Shane said: ‘Of course! I think most people want Kat and Alfie to make it work.

‘Whenever I’m out, that’s what everyone says, and they want to know when Kat and Alfie will get remarried.’
