EastEnders’ Freddie Slater, played by Bobby Brazier, is set to bid farewell to the BBC soap, and fans are bracing themselves for what they believe will be a gut-wrenching departure.

Loyal viewers of EastEnders reckon they’ve sussed out the exit plot for Freddie Slater, and it’s shaping up to be a tearjerker.

Freddie (portrayed by Bobby Brazier) burst onto the scene in 2022 as Little Mo Mitchell’s (Kacey Ainsworth) son, quickly becoming a fan favourite on the BBC One drama.

His time on the Square has seen him entangled in major storylines, from an ADHD diagnosis to a complicated love triangle involving Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) and his best mate Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell).

In addition to these dramas, Freddie uncovered the dark past of his real dad, the villainous Graham Foster (Alex McSweeney), and heroically rescued his second cousin Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) from her creepy stalker Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis).

However, the buzz around Albert Square is that Bobby Brazier, who is the son of the late Jade Goody, is set to leave the show after a three-year stint as Freddie.

A spokesperson for the show confirmed: “We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

The Sun has reported that Bobby is eager to chase new ventures beyond the iconic BBC One series, with the soap’s writers already having crafted his exit storyline.

Now, devotees think they have ‘sussed out’ Freddie’s departure plot – and it doesn’t look promising for him. Posting on an EastEnders Facebook group, fans speculate that his dad Graham might play a pivotal role in his leaving storyline.

Fans have ‘worked out’ Freddie’s exit

“Be sad to see him leave, he’s good actor. But I think his dad will come back and it will have something to do with that,” one viewer speculated.

Another added their voice: “Oh yeah, he was vile. I think you’re on to something!” Thirding the notion, someone else guessed: “Freddy gets killed off perhaps?” While another shared: “I thought the same.”

Graham’s first appearance on the show was in 2003 and he stuck around the square until January 2005.

He struck up a friendship with Little Mo Mitchell during her time as a barmaid at the Queen Vic. However, things became harrowing when Graham raped her on the pub floor, which led to her getting pregnant with Freddie Slater.

After serving an eight-year sentence, Graham re-emerged in the soap in 2023, following Freddie’s wish to meet him at last.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
