ITV Emmerdale aftermath revealed as one character ends marriage in shock bombshell

Emmerdale will air the aftermath of Tuesday’s dinner party from hell tonight (Wednesday 8 May).

Soap fans will recall that yesterday’s instalment gave viewers a glimpse of what things are like behind closed doors for Belle Dingle and Tom King and Rhona Ghoskirk and Marlon Dingle – as we saw Belle’s harrowing reality while a split was on the cards for Rhona and Marlon as they struggled in the fall out of Gus Malcoms’ trial and Rhona going behind her husband’s back during the court proceedings.

During the dinner party, tensions were clearly palpable between Rhona and Marlon as they kept making digs at each other. Eventually, near the end of the episode, Rhona and Marlon had an explosive row, where they aired their issues publicly to everyone at the dinner party. Rhona tried to leave but Marlon wouldn’t let her as a furious Rhona seemingly ended their marriage in front of everyone. Rhona then declared she was going home with the other guests apologetically following after the awkward showdown.

And now spoilers for Wednesday’s episode have given an insight into the aftermath. In upcoming scenes, Paddy Kirk, who was at the dinner party and witnessed the row, talks to best friend Marlon as he tries to urge him to make amends with Rhona. He later suggests marriage counselling but will she agree and will it work or is their marriage beyond repair?

Taking to Twitter, now X, on Tuesday night following the scenes, viewers shared their upset. One person said: “Sad seeing Rhona and Marlon’s relationship falling apart #emmerdale”, a different account put: “If you were Rhona and Marlon you just wouldn’t go to the dinner party if your marriage was that bad. #Emmerdale” while another added: “Rhona and Marlon’s marriage is in trouble.”

Elsewhere, the dinner party took a very distressing turn for Belle and Tom. The ITV soap is tackling a coercive control storyline with the characters, and fans have seen Tom isolating and manipulating his partner Belle. With his vile behaviour worsening recently and him having her under surveillance, the latest instalment took an even more heartbreaking turn as Tom turned violent.

After all the guests left on Tuesday’s episode, they didn’t realise they were leaving Belle in danger after Tom’s behaviour escalated after he discovered that his wife was still on the contraceptive pill despite making her throw the tablets in the bin last week. Tom is trying to pressure her into starting a family when Belle has already said she isn’t ready and she had been secretly taking the pill without Tom knowing. Tuesday’s episode ended with utterly heartbreaking and horrifying scenes as Tom turned violent against Belle.
