Emmerdale ‘confirms’ comeuppance for Tom as Cain ‘discovers Belle’s abuse’

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) woke up feeling anxious and fearful in Friday’s (May 17) episode of Emmerdale.

Yesterday, Belle was left utterly broken after Tom (James Chase) punched her in the stomach during an argument.

As Belle ran to the bathroom to look at her bruised body, she crumpled to the floor in tears, all while listening to Tom shout and threaten to break the door down.

In tonight’s instalment, after Belle headed out to walk Piper the dog, Tom returned home following a night in his car.

Tom spent hours talking and spinning a massive sob story so Belle wouldn’t leave him and reveal what a horrible man he is. He said he’s lost everyone in his life and doesn’t want to lose Belle too, and wants to just forget the entire thing happened.

Meanwhile, in the café, Lydia (Karen Blick) was raising her concerns about Belle during a chat with Mandy (Lisa Riley). Yesterday, Lydia and Sam (James Hooton) popped to give Belle a stew for her dinner, but she didn’t answer the door because she was hiding behind it and crying.

Lydia said that she had also sent Belle a text, which had been read but not replied to.

When Cain (Jeff Hordley) entered, Mandy asked him about Belle.

Cain had seen Belle that morning returning home with Piper. He said that she seemed fine, and joked about her behaving differently because Mandy is well, Mandy.

We love her, for the record.

After promising to have a word, Cain found Belle outside her house with Tom. Asking if she was ok was a simple task where Cain was concerned, but Belle had to be careful with her words in her response, worried about saying the wrong thing in front of Tom.

As Cain walked away, Tom thanked Belle for not saying anything and confirmed he would enquire about getting help tomorrow.

‘The rest of our life starts here Belle’, Tom said, as he hugged his wife.

As this storyline continues, suffice to say people are starting to pick up on Belle’s change in behaviour, but who will be the first to realise Tom is the problem?

Will it be Lydia or Mandy?

Or, given Cain’s involvement tonight, perhaps this is a sign he will save her?
