Emmerdale fans to see icon ‘return’ in major twist three years after emotional exit

Emmerdale fans are in for another dramatic week in the ITV village when fans finally learn more about village newcomer Ella Forster as she moves in with Liam Cavanagh

Emmerdale fans are set to see the return of one beloved character on the ITV soap as suspicions swirl around newcomer Ella Forster (Paula Lane), according to AI.

Earlier this year, the blonde bombshell arrived in the village and quickly landed a job at the doctor’s surgery. Almost immediately after she landed the job, she started flirting with doctor Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson).

However, things soon became tense after Liam’s fling with Chas Dingle came to light weeks after she revealed her breast cancer diagnosis. Over the past few weeks, the GP was worn between the two women.

But in the end, he decided to pursue a relationship with Ella even though his heart is still with Chas. As the couple take the next step in their relationship and begin to move in together, suspicion around the receptionist stirs in the village.

Towards the end of the week, viewers will see her leave the village to pay a visit to someone living at an elderly home. As theories swirl online as to who she could be visiting, Daily Star decided to quiz one of the world’s most ‘creative’ AI systems, Gemini, to work out who it could be.

When asked who the mystery resident could be, the programme predicted she could be visiting Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen). It told us: “It is possible Ella Forster could visit Diane Sugden at a retirement community on the show.

“Diane Sugden did return for Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary, leaving the possibility of future appearances open. A visit between Ella and Diane at a retirement community could offer interesting story development.

“They could reconnect, discuss past events, or introduce new conflicts.” It comes after fans shared their excitement to see the former Woolpack landlady return to the show in 2022 for the 50th anniversary.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk after the anniversary episode hit the airwaves, she confessed; “I was really pleased to be asked to come back to Emmerdale to celebrate its 50th. There’s a lot of people that I still know that I was really pleased to see again.”

The star went on to tease a future return to the show when she hinted: “Who knows, she may return again one day!” The TV favourite was at the heart of the show for more than 22 years, including 17 as the proud landlady of the Woolpack.

The star announced she would be leaving the show back in September 2021 with a touching statement online. She wrote: “For the past 22 years, I have loved playing Diane Sugden – she’s kind, reliable, and fiercely loyal.

“However, I now feel the time has come to say goodbye. Emmerdale will always remain special to me. I’ve been treated with respect and kindness, and I’ve had the very best friends and colleagues, both past and present. I’ll miss everyone dearly.”

Fans will have to stay tuned to see if the TV icon will return to the long-running show. Emmerdale airs on weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
