‘Excruciating watch!’ gasp Emmerdale fans after anniversary of Lisa Dingle’s death sends shockwaves through family
Viewers were left fuming as Tom continues to exert coercive control over his wife
EMMERDALE fans were left utterly fuming as anniversary of Lisa Dingle’s death sends shockwaves through the family.
On last night’s episode of the long-running ITV soap, Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor-Draper) was still grieving the loss of her mother who passed away five years ago.
As part of a coercive control storyline, Belle stood up to Tom King (played by Albert King).
He played his usual manipulative tricks on his wife as he was angered by the fact she visited her family home.
She was in tears as she picked up a photo which showed her mum Lisa (played by Jane Cox).
This was because he was expecting an important parcel which arrived late at the house they both shared together, which was coupled with work problems.
Throughout the episode, Belle was visibly upset but her husband carried on in his insensitive and controlling ways.
When she questioned whether he was even aware of the date and significance of Lisa’s death, he couldn’t help but make one of his nasty digs.
Tom declared: “I couldn’t be more aware if you dug her up, and plonked her outside the pub where she probably at her happiest.”
Seeing red, Belle then pushed him to the floor in a violent outburst causing him to sustain several bloody cuts.
However, Emmerdale fans were left fuming after watching the scenes as they took to social media.
Writing on X – formerly known as Twitter – they claimed the scenes were difficult to watch.
One viewer fumed: “#Emmerdale was an excruciating watch. Death anniversaries are tough. Feel so terrible for Belle.”
A second fan penned: “The narcissist clearly doesn’t know its the anniversary of his wife’s mother’s death. He only thinks of himself and will be abusive to her later… #Emmerdale.”
“This storyline is really upsetting me. I dont know if I can watch anymore! From someone who has been through similar, its sparking upset and frustration. Poor Belle,” stated a third user.
As someone else commented: “This Tom & Belle storyline is really making me want to stop watching #Emmerdale #emmerdale.”
And a fifth exclaimed: “Can’t believe the writers have now gone down the road of making it look like Belle is the villain.”
Whilst a sixth watcher added: “Please @emmerdale can you end the storyline of #DomesticAbuse between Belle & Tom asap! It’s f****** horrendous & triggering 😩😩😩. Just wanna throw up 🤮.”
