ITV Emmerdale star’s four word response to Ella’s future in Dales after murder reveal

Emmerdale stars Paula Lane and Johnny McPherson have opened up about a future for Ella Forster on the Dales after the revelation she killed her best friend as a kid

Emmerdale stars Paula Lane and Johnny McPherson have revealed more about Ella Forster’s future in the village.

Last night, it was revealed Ella – whose real name is Ruth Davies – killed her best friend when they were both just 11-years-old. Ella had been in prison for her whole life, up until five years ago, where she was allowed to return to society.

She has been running from her past for years, but it finally caught up with her when Leyla Harding revealed what she had been hiding – just as Dr Liam Cavanagh discovered the truth, and it wasn’t long before the whole village knew.

At the end of the episode, she had a heart to heart with Cain Dingle, who questioned whether she needed to leave or just needed to find a way to put the past behind her now everyone knew what she had done.

Actors Paula Lane and Johnny McPherson have now opened up about the possibility of Ella staying. Whilst it looks like she will remain in the Dales despite her past, it looks like there’s no way back for her and Dr Liam Cavanagh.

Johnny said: “Ella’s confession and her story has brought Leanna’s death all back for him. He can’t believe she has lived in his house whilst guarding that secret given she knew what had happened to Leanna … This betrayal is a big thing for him.

“I think this relationship is now almost definitely cooked! I mean never say never but I would say it’s almost definitely it. I don’t think there is any coming back from it.” And asked if she could keep her job, he said: “I don’t think so.. It’s quite an untenable situation now.”

Ella actress Paula Lane explained that Ella will come to rely on Mandy, with the pair sharing a special friendship.

Speaking about who she relies on, she said: “In a conversation with Mandy, Ella says she always had to run when the truth has been exposed. I expect she’s experienced this reaction quite a few times and then has found herself living out of her car again.

“Mandy and Ella from day one found something in each other that just sparked. I think because the two have admitted they both have dark pasts and haven’t made the best choices in life, there is a real empathy there and protective nature for each other.”
