Emmerdale Moira star unrecognisable in ‘kinky’ throwback shoot before soap fame
Emmerdale icon Natalie J. Robb, who is best known for playing Moira, looks unrecognisable in a series of throwback snaps showing her in a number of 90s inspired looks
Emmerdale actress Natalie J. Robb is barely recognisable in throwback snaps from the 90s.
The actress, who plays Moira Dingle in the ITV soap, had a different career back then, singing in a band called The Kinky People. Resurfaced photos show Natalie, now 49, rocking various 90s styles, including a black leather jacket paired with a strapless bra.
Her look was completed with smoky eyeshadow and her hair styled in trendy 90s top knots. In another snap, a mid-20s Natalie sports a bright pink top while giving the camera a sultry stare.
A fourth snap shows a youthful Natalie in a black sheer off-the-shoulder top, black trousers and strappy heels. Her look was finished with curly hair and a silver choker necklace.
After her music career, Natalie starred in several hit TV shows, including Emmerdale, where she’s been for over ten years. She’s also appeared in Take the High Road, The Bill and Doctors.
Natalie previously dated her Emmerdale co-star Jonny McPherson, 40, but they split last in 2021 after dating for a year. The pair reportedly knew each other for years, but became closer during a charity trip in 2019, according to The Sun.
Then, as the nation went into its first lockdown, the ex-lovebirds decided to shack up together. Sharing her thoughts on the situation while appearing on ITV’s Loose Women Natalie revealed: “Our first date was in mid-January, and then we were just having a couple of dates in February and then obviously March lockdown happened.”
“And we were together at the time that Boris Johnson announced it. ‘So we’re like, ‘Oh’. So he’s been kind of staying with me, and then they were saying, yes, it could be three weeks. Yes, it might be six weeks. I was like, ‘Oh, okay! ‘”.
Post-split, Jonny packed his bags and sailed back to his houseboat digs. While they were an item, Jonny confessed that the pandemic had put their romance on the fast track.
“We had to make a decision as lots of couples did. We decided to move in together and so, yes, lockdown did fast forward our relationship,” he told The Mirror back in 2020.
“We get on so well. We come from quite different backgrounds but we are essentially the same person. We are both a pair of big kids. We have exactly the same stupid humour.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
