Emmerdale viewers could be in for a shock twist in the Gus and Rhona storyline, as fans are sure Gus’ late wife Lucy is actually still alive.
Late last year, viewers watched as Lucy collapsed after a row with Rhona and was rushed to hospital, where she gave birth to daughter Ivy. But Gus soon emerged from her hospital room to deliver the terrible news that Lucy had passed away after the premature birth.
However, Lucy’s body, nor her funeral, were never shown on screen. And now fans think Lucy might have simply taken the time to recover while Gus left Ivy in Rhona’s care – and now, with him planning to move to France, she could be back in the picture.
Gus announced he’d be moving in with Lucy’s parents abroad, leaving a devastated Rhona at her wit’s end. She eventually kidnapped Ivy and met up with Vanessa, baby in tow. Eagle-eyed fans now think she was in the right, as Gus could have been lying about Lucy’s death.
Taking to Facebook, one user suggested: “Is there any actual proof Lucy is dead? Not seen any doctor say so, no funeral, no death certificate, and where does Gus keep disappearing to? I know Ivy was on her own in the hospital room but that could have been for any reason.“Gus was edgy, something about him cannot be trusted. I mean, now he is going off to France in a few days? Was thinking maybe because Gus and Lucy got caught with her pregnancy it’s all a scam for Rhona and Marlon’s benefit.”
Someone else responded: “She could have been in a coma and Gus just said she died so Rhona wouldn’t report them for stealing the embryos and her passport and forging her signature?”
While a third fan echoed: “Taking Ivy to France – he could be selling her! He hardly does anything for Ivy, there’s something funny about it.” Someone else agreed: “Maybe Lucy is in France and that’s why he’s going with Ivy.”

Spoilers have revealed that Rhona is set to be arrested for kidnapping the child as Gus finds out her remote cottage location – after begging Vanessa to help her relocate to Canada. Marlon arrives at the cottage to reason with her, but just as he gets through to his devastated wife, Gus turns up with the police in tow.
If the storyline really is set to take an even more devastating tone, it would mean further tragedy for Rhona, who has already bonded with her biological daughter after begging Gus not to use her embryos. Fans have been left “in tears” seeing her emotional turmoil – and it’s far from over.
