Laurel Thomas rushed to hospital after horror collapse in Emmerdale – and it’s all Jai Sharma’s fault
Chris Bisson - who plays Jai - has opened up about his character's return to the 'dark side'
JAI Sharma has been keeping a big secret in Emmerdale, and when Laurel urges him to let the truth come out, she ends up facing the consequences.
The business owner was forced to admit to attempted murder of his biological father Amit after his wife noticed Pollard blackmailing him.
As part of Jai’s revenge plot against Amit for pushing Rishi down a flight of stairs, he also had Amit’s son Suni removed as one of the owners of Hawksford Outdoor Pursuits.
Since finding out the reality of her husband’s situation, Laurel has been begging Jai to confess his actions to his half brother.
In upcoming scenes, the pair get into a full blown argument over Jai’s lies.
When he refuses to tell Suni what happened to Amit, Laurel is left distraught.
Their disagreement gets heated, and the final straw comes when an angry Jai insults Ashley.
Furious, Laurel sends her husband away, only to suffer a collapse once she is alone.
The woman is left fighting for breath and starts to panic once she realises her phone is out of reach and she can’t even call for help.
Meanwhile Jai stormed off to meet Suni at The Hide in an attempt to come clean.
While his half brother rambles on about his life, Jai tries to think of a way to bring up Amit’s disappearance.
However, he is interrupted by his phone constantly buzzing with new calls from Gabby, which eventually leads him to lash out.
What he doesn’t know is that Gabby found Laurel on the floor in the throes of a medical emergency and rang an ambulance to rush her to the hospital.
When Jai finally answers the phone, he is stunned to hear that his wife has suffered a collapse.
Will this finally push him to tell Suni the truth and escape from the web of lies that ended up with him getting blackmailed?
Or will rushing to hospital prevent him from finishing the conversation he was planning to have with Suni?
Earlier this year, Chris Bisson opened up about the re-emergence of Jai’s dark side.
The twist on Emmerdale followed the discovery that Amit was involved in the death of Rishi, the man he always believed to be his dad until shortly before his passing.
He said: “[This] has changed something inside him and going forward the way he views life and people and relationships may well be affected.
“Certainly the way he treats business will probably be affected too.
“I think he is going to become a bit more ruthless. He feels he has been taken for a bit of a fool and he feels like that is never going to happen again. So yes, maybe Bad Jai is back!”
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
