Is Jai Sharma leaving Emmerdale and what did he do to Amit on the ITV soap?
Emmerdale's Jai Sharma is at risk of isolating himself from all of his family amid his secret regarding estranged biological father, Amit, which is at risk of being exposed to the entire village
Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma is at risk of losing his loved ones amid his secret regarding estranged biological father, Amit.
Soap fans will recall that Jai made Amit leave the village earlier this year after making him admit that he had killed his adoptive father, Rishi Sharma, by pushing him down the stairs on his wedding day to Laurel Thomas. Jai also made him cut other son and his brother, Suni, out of any ownership of the HOP, signing over all the shares to just him.
In recent scenes, Laurel confronted husband Jai about his and Eric Pollard’s suspicious behaviour. Soap fans will recall that Eric has been blackmailing Jai over what happened with his biological father, Amit, earlier in the year. This week, Jai admits to Laurel that he can’t face telling his brother Suni the truth, leaving Laurel furious. It’s not long until their argument becomes heated on Wednesday and Jai insults Laurel’s late husband, Ashley Thomas, who died in 2017, as she sends him away.

Once alone, Laurel feels dizzy following Jai’s harsh words and betrayal to which she collapses on the floor. Laurel is left frightened and barely able to move with her phone ringing out but she’s unable to reach it. Thankfully, Laurel is found by stepdaughter Gabby Thomas, who is worried to find her stepmother struggling to breathe.
A terrified Laurel then asks Gabby to call an ambulance as she’s rushed to hospital. Will Laurel be okay and what’s caused her to collapse? Meanwhile, over at The Hide, Jai tries to build up to the conversation he needs to have despite his brother’s rambling. Incessant calls from Gabby cause Jai to snap, but he’s shocked to hear Laurel’s collapsed…
It comes as spoilers for next week reveal the aftermath as it appears Laurel isn’t ready to forgive or forget as the character is left troubled that her decision to separate from Jai hasn’t sunk in for him. Is this really an end for the couple after marrying last year or can Jai get Laurel’s forgiveness? Elsewhere, with Jai now losing more family members, could he leave the village? So far, there is no reason to believe Jai will leave the ITV soap with the character being mentioned in next week’s spoilers.
