Emmerdale’s Kim Tate has been ‘unmasked’ as the person behind Rose Jackson’s shocking disappearance.

Soap legend Kim discovered the truth about Rose (played by Christine Tremarco) and her scheming ways this week. Fans will remember that Rose arrived in the Dales earlier this year, introduced as the estranged ex-wife of Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and mother to Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).

It was later revealed that Rose was being blackmailed by Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly), who is hell-bent on bringing down Kim Tate (Claire King) and wrecking her life. Upon discovering the truth, a furious Kim was ready for revenge – but she was unaware that Will had been unfaithful with Rose, something which Rose had secretly recorded.

After a confrontation at Home Farm, Kim ordered Rose to leave permanently. Alongside husband Will, they drove Rose to a deserted location and abandoned her there during Thursday’s episode (August 1).

Later on, Rose seemed to be startled by a character’s sudden arrival in a car, but after this scene, viewers didn’t see the car, the mystery person or even Rose – as she seemingly vanished.

Appearing to hint that something had happened to her, all that was shown were Rose’s bag, a picture her grandchildren had drawn and a hospital letter, sprawled out across the grass.

Following the sinister scenes, fans were quick to share their theories on who could be behind Rose’s disappearance. But following a cryptic comment from Kim, it appears she could be the culprit.

During Friday’s episode (August 2) Will was keen to put the past few weeks behind him and Kate. In the morning, he conjured up a bacon sandwich and a cup of coffee for Kim.

Appearing to hint that she knew the truth about his infidelity, Kim told Will: “Smells like guilt.” And if Kim did actually know all about it, it would give her a motive to murder Rose.

Fans of the soap also reckon Kim knows the truth about Will and Rose, with one writing on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page: “Kim knows Will cheated.” A second penned: “Ya I reckons so. She proclaimed killed Rose off as well.”

A third chimed in and proclaimed: “Looks like she’s bumped off Rose.” Another wrote: “It might be too obvious to be Kim that got rid of Rose but maybe she did kill her and is setting up someone like Ruby to get her charged with Roses’s disappearance.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
