There was that look in Emmerdale a few weeks ago that set tongues wagging – and now it seems it wasn’t just a fleeting glance!

About a month ago, viewers spotted a lingering look between Suzy (Martelle Edinborough) and Mary (Louise Jameson) and speculated it might be the foreshadowing of something wonderful. This guesswork may well be right!

Suzy and Mary have had the most beautifully supportive friendship. Suzy was Mary’s confidante as she navigated the world of dating after having only just come out.

Suzy was also Mary’s source of support during the awful Faye debacle which saw Mary fall for a con-woman who scammed her for thousands of pounds.

Mary is set to return the favour, which could spark feelings.

Suzy has been preoccupied lately with prep for Belle (Eden Taylor Draper) and Tom’s (James Chase) wedding. It’s been particularly hard graft given the short notice of the big day. But Suzy is a pro and was determined to pull it all together.

But things prove tough in getting this wedding off the ground, not least because the groom disappears and for quite a while it looks like the wedding won’t go ahead.

When they finally track him down, the wedding does go ahead, but things unravel again later when the Dingles get a bit rowdy, and then Caleb’s wife Ruby disrupts proceedings with a huge announcement – that Caleb’s been sleeping with Tracy.

Suzy’s classy and tranquil plans descend into chaos and she’s left pulling her hair out. Mary spots her friend in need, and she is right there – ready and willing to do what’s needed.

Suzy can’t hide her gratitude when Mary saves the day, and it’s another special moment between these two women. Is there more here than just friendship?
