ITV Emmerdale reveals who turned Samson Dingle to the police in jaw-dropping twist

Samson has landed in legal trouble after an off-screen attack against former pal Josh. The Emmerdale teen was arrested, with Cain convinced Moira is to blame. Who is responsible?

Emmerdale tough man Cain Dingle was convinced his wife Moira had turned Samson in to the police, blissfully unaware that the lad had been betrayed by someone much closer to home.

Samson Dingle (portrayed by Sam Hall) was escorted out of The Woolpack by PC Swirling during Monday’s (August 5) instalment of the ITV soap after it was revealed he had attacked his ex-pal Josh.

Earlier on in the episode, Samson confronted the lad, urging him to come clean about what really happened on the day he was stabbed to finally clear Matty Barton’s name. Unfortunately, Josh gloated as he refused to confess.

A furious Samson ran after Josh, vowing he wouldn’t get away with his schemes for much longer but the assault, reportedly brutal, was never shown on screens.

Once Samson was carted away, his arrest sparked tension between Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and his wife Moira (Natalie J Robb) as the Dales tough man asked her if she had called the police against Samson.

Despite being part of the same family, Moira and Samson have had a severely strained relationship in recent weeks due to Matty Barton’s arrest and subsequent incarceration – an unnerving time for the openly trans man.

Desperate to get her son out from behind bars, Moira had pleaded with Samson to tell the truth but he double-crossed her by telling the police she had kidnapped him.

This eventually led Samson to finally reveal what happened when he was stabbed, informing his father Sam (James Hooton) and stepmother Linda (Karen Blick) that Matty was never to blame for his attack.

However, during this Tuesday’s instalment of the long-running drama (August 6), Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) was revealed to have turned Samson over to the police after his girlfriend Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) saw he had called the police on his most recent call log. Confronted with the truth behind the Woolpack bar, Noah was kicked out of the boozer by a furious Amelia.

Soap fans swarmed over to X, otherwise known as Twitter, following the reveal as they were far from impressed with Amelia’s reaction: “Noah I’d move on from AMEE- LEYUH if I was you! She just hates the fact you’re not Samson”, one penned.

Another added: “Feel so sorry for Noah! After the way Samson treated Ester and Amelia and she still sticks up for him. In a way Samson does deserve to be locked up as does the other lad!” While a third jumped in: “If I was you Noah I’d run you idiot!!!”

Tuesday’s trip to the eponymous village ended with Sam paying one last visit to his son, who was sentenced to four years in prison.

Sam notably urged him to behave while behind bars, seemingly anxious he would look up to his violent uncle Cain as an example to follow. And fans can rest assured that Josh also received his own comeuppance as it was revealed the police had found new evidence against him.
