If there’s one thing we know about Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) in Emmerdale, it’s that she usually isn’t in the dark about a family matter for very long.

This week, we said goodbye to Samson Dingle (Sam Hall). He was sentenced to four years behind bars after the ordeal surrounding Matty’s (Ash Palmsiciano) false imprisonment, and him assaulting Josh (Osian Morgan).

Samson is the biological father of Amelia’s (Daisy Campbell) baby daughter Esther. Ever since she’s been born, Samson has made it clear he doesn’t want to be a father to Esther, which has given Amelia’s boyfriend Noah (Jack Downham) the opportunity to step up.

Despite Samson’s terrible behaviour as of late, Amelia couldn’t help but worry about him and Esther’s future as she waited for the results of his plea hearing.

This troubled Noah, who tried to tell Amelia that he’s a much better father figure to Esther than Samson.

When Amelia discovered Noah was the person who shopped Samson to the police after he assaulted Josh, she dumped him, convinced she is better off on her own.

In tonight’s episode, Amelia revealed to Charity that she was no longer seeing Noah, but lied and said it was because they got bored.

Curious, Charity returned home and encouraged Noah to open up. He eventually revealed his secret about Samson and after Charity gave her opinion on the matter, she felt bad for her son when Noah said he only did it because he was jealous.

Fully aware of how Sam (James Hooton) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) would react if they discovered Noah’s secret, Charity told him she would keep it quiet.

It’s probably going against the Dingle Law but it keeps Noah safe – which is certainly more important to Charity.
