Emmerdale’s John Sugden reveals he’s ‘not Victoria’s brother’ as true identity ‘sealed’
Emmerdale's John Sugden may have let slip he's not really related to Victoria amid an Aidan Moore twist on the ITV soap, with a telling comment during Wednesday's episode
The latest episode of ITV’s Emmerdale may have seen John Sugden make a confession amid theories about his true identity.
The character sparked theories he might be a man named Aidan Moore in a twist this week, before fans did some digging and possibly worked out another big bombshell. With them realising a past character linked to John’s father Jack Sugden shared the same surname as Aidan, there’s all kinds of speculation that could reveal John is hiding something huge.
John was seen holding some army dog tags which were engraved with Aidan’s name during Tuesday’s episode. He hid them from his sister Victoria Sugden, and it was clear he didn’t want anyone to see them
On Wednesday, he continued to keep quiet about his past and his time in the army, while we did not see the dog tags again. There were no more clues about who Aidan was, or what might have happened to him – or if John was an impostor.
But there was a claim from John to Victoria that could have exposed John’s games, and the fact he has an ulterior motive. While it could have been an insult to hurt her or to make her see he didn’t want to stick around, it can also be taken as an admission that he’s lying about his identity.

After Victoria tried to spend some time with her long-lost sibling, he snapped and was pretty cold with her. He then told her: “I’m not Harry’s uncle or your brother, I’m just someone who is passing through.”
While he was probably just being harsh and refusing to let Victoria in, could this be a major hint from the show that he isn’t really John Sugden? Might he instead be linked to someone who is a Sugden relative, like ‘the real’ John or even mystery Aidan?
It comes as fans believed they’d worked out who John really was, and that he could be Aidan pretending to be John. After seeing the dog tags, fans wondered if Aidan was pretending to be John, someone he knew, to get out of the army. Viewers will have to wait and see what the deal is!
