Granny Charity pulls Sarah into the world of crime in Emmerdale

Emmerdale’s Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has proven herself to be somewhat of a rebel, and now Granny Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is set to harness this rebellious nature by initiating her into the dark side.

Sarah has displayed some questionable behaviour in recent months that has raised a few eyebrows.

For starters, she betrayed her family by allowing herself to be wooed by bad lad Josh, who had got Matty (Ash Palmisciano) sent down for a crime he didn’t commit. The family were up in arms when they found her having a cosy lunch with him, the enemy.

Then, Charity lost it when she discovered Sarah had been drinking while on her medication – a dangerous combination and a reckless act that showed her low regard for her own life.

Sarah has previously made it clear that she is not to be treated with kid gloves despite her illness and short life expectancy, but turning into this kind of risk taker is certainly concerning.

So, Charity decides to help her spice up her life a bit – if it’s a thrill she’s after, it’s a thrill she’ll get.

And Charity knows a thing or two about spicy living and a life of crime, having been a sex worker, murdered more than one man, been involved in casino scams, and goodness knows what other underhand activities there have been.

Now that Sarah is over 18, it’s time for her to be shown the true Dingle ways. She may be Sugden by name, but she is Dingle in nature.

With Sarah shaping up to be the new Charity with her savvy edge and penchant for pushing boundaries, Charity takes her for a joy ride in a stolen flash car.

Is this a strategic move on Charity’s part in a bid to control and tame Sarah’s rebellious side, or is Charity making a return to the dark side herself?
