Damon 'Harry' Harris - played by Robert Beck - made a shock departure from Emmerdale but Charity Dingle still continues to struggle following the scuffle that saw her shoot him dead

Damon Harris died in a huge twist just a few weeks back on Emmerdale.

The villainous character – played by Robert Beck – had been targeting the Dingles, before his true identity was revealed. Damon is actually Chloe Harris’ dad and following the car crash, where Mackenzie tried to save his wife Charity Dingle and not his current partner Chloe, she decided to call her dad and beg for his help – with disastrous consequences.

Mack was kidnapped by Damon, who tortured him for what he’d done to her daughter Chloe. It eventually led to an exit for both Damon and Chloe and her son Reuben, with Damon dying in shock scenes over the festive period.

Who is Harry on Emmerdale?

Damon – also known by his nickname Harry – was played by Robert Beck and he died in shocking scenes when Charity Dingle shot him in a struggle, trying to save Mack. He had been on the Dales, messing with the Dingles for a while, but later it was revealed he is actually the father of Chloe Harris and was back to keep and eye on her.

Speaking about the father and daughter bond, Jessie Elland – who played Chloe – said: “Chloe feels so pushed by Mack’s behaviour that she has reached out to her father. That encapsulates what the relationship is like. She hasn’t got in touch with him for two years, but she feels so desperate. She has nowhere else to turn, so that last resort is to turn to her dad.

“It’s shown how dire circumstances have got for Chloe. Moving forward, there is hope from Chloe that maybe her dad has changed. She’s clinging onto that naïve hope that maybe there could be a little family unit and he might change his ways. I think Chloe does cling on to that to some extent. But you’ll have to wait and see whether that happens, or whether he can’t change who he is.”

Who did Charity kill in Emmerdale?

Charity killed Damon – Chloe’s dad – in a surprise turn of events when she tried to save her husband Mack. She admitted at the time that she feared it would lead to an exit for her character.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press, she said: “When I got the script I was a bit like ‘Wow, oh my god, this makes me a killer but I guess what will be will be and you can never really be fearful of these things because if my time in Emmerdale is coming to an end then I will always be OK because that’s my job, I’ve chosen to be an actress and you have to sort of go with the flow.

“Yeah I did think at one point ‘Oh god, my character has now killed’ but when I read the script I realised actually it’s an act of love, it’s act of self defence and she doesn’t do it purposefully. There’s no intent to kill so that made me feel a bit better.”

Is Chloe coming back to Emmerdale?

Fans have been speculating Chloe Harris might make a return to the Dales amid a new storyline for Mack and Charity. She departed the role a few weeks back when she and her son Reuben – who she shares with Mack – left for good.

Speaking back in December about her exit from the Dales after two years of playing Chloe, she shared: “I’ve had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being a part of Emmerdale. Over those two years it never got any less surreal to walk through the stage door at studios or to be stood outside the Woolpack at the village.

“I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity and to have been trusted with such wonderful storylines. I really got to tick off the soap bingo card; giving birth, discovering new family members, a big stunt, a soapy slap, and even a classic back of the taxi exit! All while working with, and learning from, incredibly talented people that I’d grown up watching on screen.”

She added: “I’m sure you’ve heard other cast members say that being in Emmerdale is like being part of a big family but it couldn’t be more true. The cast and crew of Emmerdale are some of the nicest people I’ve ever been lucky enough to meet, and they all made Emmerdale feel like a second home to me. What made my time at Emmerdale even more rewarding has been the reaction of the viewers to Chloe and her storylines. Meeting fans of the show and hearing how much it means to them is such a special experience and never fails to make me feel so proud and lucky to be even a small part of something so loved.”
