Emmerdale Shocker: Tom King’s Downfall Unfolds as Beloved Star Makes Stunning ‘Return from the Dead’!

Soap viewers were delighted to find out that Belle Dingle's dog Piper was still alive this Wednesday on Emmerdale. But the pooch could be the key to taking down Tom King.

Piper was shown alive and well this Wednesday as Tom King handed her over to another family in Emmerdale – but she could be what Belle Dingle needs to finally get rid of him.

The beloved pooch was mowed over by the treacherous vet (played by James Chase) last week and her fate was left hanging in the balance until Tom claimed there was no hope for her and supposedly euthanised her in an attempt to get closer to his estranged wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).

But this Wednesday, August 21, ITV viewers at home were stunned when, despite having her own funeral in the Dales, Piper was revealed to be alive and on her way to a new forever home as Tom continued to cover his tracks and discredited a “crazy” Belle.

The twist was welcomed on X, otherwise known as Twitter, with a wave of reactions as multiple viewers were reassured to see Piper alive. Before the reveal, Emmerdale bosses had been targeted with a whopping amount of Ofcom complaints.

“I apologise in advance to the scriptwriters when I genuinely thought you killed Piper off and berated you for it. You are back in my good books now”, one viewer notably penned on the social media platform. But with the knowledge that no secret remains under wraps in the eponymous village, fans of the Yorkshire-based programme figured out that Piper may play a major part in Tom’s downfall.

A theory suggests that Belle could soon find Piper again with her new owners and the dog’s microchipping may be used to prove she is not only her pooch but that Tom is also deceptive. This could then lead Tom’s menacing nature to finally come to light.

“He’s given Piper to a couple and spun a line that she was an abused dog. Because she really looks abused, doesn’t she? Will Tom’s slip-up be that he forgets to change her microchip details?”, one viewer theorised. Another echoed: “So, my theory is that Belle will see the new owners with Piper and she’ll realise what Tom has done.” A third agreed: “I think Piper will spot Belle and run to her.”

While the outcome of Belle’s coercive control storyline has yet to be seen, the end is definitely looming as the Take A Vow wedding planner recently sought help from the police. Belle used Clare’s law to find out whether Tom had a past with domestic violence – but what will she discover?
