Emmerdale spoilers: Heartbroken Moira Barton says goodbye as brother Mack Boyd is stabbed by Charity Dingle
Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) has been left in pieces after discovering Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) stabbed her brother Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) in Emmerdale.
Charity has been struggling with her mental health ever since she killed Chloe’s (Jessie Elland) dad Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck).
We know the ordeal only occurred because Charity was trying to save Mackenzie, but the heroism behind the act has not stopped the beloved character from suffering with PTSD, nightmares and worrying mood swings.
In tonight’s (February 22) episode of the ITV soap, Charity continued to fear for herself and her loved ones.
At Jacob’s Fold, as time ticked away, any slight noise outside completely terrified Charity. She locked the door and tried to get some rest, but as soon as she closed her eyes, she hallucinated evil Harry, who told her she’d regret killing him.
Harry’s words echoed in Charity’s mind and didn’t really stop. Sleep deprived and desperate for some silence, Charity tried to nap on the sofa again, but she then started to experience a night terror.
Mackenzie entered and tried to help Charity but the panic rose and, in a moment of self defence, she jolted upwards and stabbed Mack in the stomach, believing he was Harry.
In a state of complete shock, Charity was unable to help Mackenzie, with the delay being enough for him to become unconscious.
A concerned Moira then popped by and immediately spotted her brother on the floor. An ambulance was called and Mack was rushed to hospital, with Charity also being arrested at the same time.
As Charity fell apart in the police cell, Moira, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Liam (Jonny McPherson) were waiting for answers on Mack.
Eventually, Moira was informed that Mack had suffered damage to his bowel and needed surgery. Overwhelmed, Moira couldn’t help feel like the stabbing was her fault, as she knew the state Charity was in but didn’t do anything about it.
After seeing Mackenzie one final time, Moira watched as he was wheeled away into theatre.
But will he survive?
If not, what will Mackenzie’s death do to Charity?
