Emmerdale star Adam Thomas, 36, begs fans for help as he remains in pain after injection

Adam Thomas took to Instagram to plead for his followers to help as he opened up about his medical struggles with Rheumatoid arthritis

Actor Adam Thomas penned a desperate plea to fans as he showed himself injecting his medication in an Instagram post.

The Emmerdale star and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, 36, took to social media to update his fans on his condition after previously revealing he has Rheumatoid arthritis. Despite appearing in positive spirits in past posts, the Waterloo Road actor confessed: “There has to be an easier way than this” as he showed himself getting an injection.

He continued: “Don’t get me wrong it’s worked wonders, but am still in pain and the side effects that this drug has is really taking its toll now!”

Adam then pleaded with his fans for help and their input. “Is anyone else on this or have been on this and noticed a huge difference in themself,” he asked. “I feel like am constantly in fog! Drowsy, falling asleep all the time, stomach pain, throwing up.

Adam then pleaded with his fans for help and their input. “Is anyone else on this or have been on this and noticed a huge difference in themself,” he asked. “I feel like am constantly in fog! Drowsy, falling asleep all the time, stomach pain, throwing up.

“Maybe it’s because I’ve not been as consistent with it as usual am not sure, but feels as though the side effects are getting worse, and lasting a lot longer.” He concluded: “Has anyone been on methotrexate and moved to something else that worked for them? any help or advice would be great x”

Fans rushed to the comments section to offer their advice, with many sharing different options. Some also defiantly told the star to “not give up” as they opened up on their own symptoms and condition.

It comes months after Adam opened up on his “long and hard” battle with arthritis. In February he opened up on how he is dealing with the condition that affects one percent of the UK’s population. The chronic autoimmune and inflammatory disease causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints.

He said in February: “So been in and out of hospital for a while now, tried all sorts of medications and painkillers. But nothing’s really working, so time to try something new.” He explained that he had been given more steroid injections to try to “ease the pain and inflammation”.

At the time, he said: “It’s been a long and hard battle and as of yet nothing has worked, but I’m hopeful! I’ve suffered just over a year with arthritis and I have to say it’s been the toughest period of my life to date. I’m a firm believer of everything happening for a reason, but I don’t really have the answer to that just yet. If I’m being completely honest… I’m suffering…I don’t think i want to suffer in silence no more.”
