ITV Emmerdale Tom King’s downfall ‘sealed’ as he’s finally exposed – but not by Belle Dingle
Viewers breathed a unanimous sigh of relief as Belle Dingle finally found the help she needed against Tom in the form of another Emmerdale villager as she shared her story.
Belle Dingle has finally found her voice and an ally she can rely on, teasing trouble for Tom King in Emmerdale.
Abused and bullied for months on end by her husband, the wedding planner portrayed by Eden Taylor-Draper called time on their marriage after realising he’d been playing mind games with her. But this hasn’t stopped him from intimidating her and manipulating her into staying silent.
But during this Thursday’s (September 5, 2024) special instalment of the ITV drama, and while Tom and Amelia Spencer (respectively played by James Chase and Daisy Campbell) were enjoying their budding romance, Belle considered her options against Tom as three different scenarios played out on screens.
While she contemplated running back to Tom and enduring his abuse, Belle also pictured him abusing and even killing 18-year-old Amelia, before imagining Tom’s downfall at the hands of her half-brother, Cain Dingle.

However, as the episode of the Yorkshire-based programme drew to a close, Belle decided to turn to one villager viewers had once anticipated would help her – Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
Belle was overwhelmed and visibly exhausted as she told the Woolpack landlady about her months of turmoil and she was relieved when Charity, against all odds and unlike the rest of Belle’s circle, believed her without the shadow of a doubt, recalling her own experience with abuse and DI Mark Bails, who raped her as a teenager.
The instalment ended with Charity comforting a tearful Belle who finally found the support she deserved. Over on social media, notably Twitter, now X, viewers were relieved to see the Take A Vow employee was believed and supported. And Charity’s support was enough for them to anticipate an explosive downfall for Tom.
This comes after another Dingle was theorised to get revenge on Tom, due to his relationship with Amelia Spencer. On Tuesday, one fan took to X to suggest: “After tonight’s Episode my theory is this – Noah will see Tom do something to Amelia and he will act – Thus I believe Noah is the one beating up Tom in the Trailer.” While other soap watchers were more concerned about her and her daughter Esther’s well-being.
Amelia dumped Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) when it was revealed he had turned Samson in to the police, which led to the lad’s incarceration and exit. And with Tom in the way, the once-villainous character has every reason to join Charity and Belle’s efforts in taking him down.
While viewers will have to wait before the scenes are aired, Tom’s downfall will take place without a doubt as actor James Chase is on his way out of Emmerdale.
“It’s the right time to leave,” an insider told The Sun. “James has loved his time on the show playing such a powerful story but the truth is that characters like Tom have a shelf life for a reason. There’s no long-term redemption for Tom coming – he has to leave one way or the other. And either way it will be dramatic. James is rightly proud of the part he’s played in raising awareness of the issue with the story but it’s time to go and spread his wings.”
