ITV Emmerdale star Eden Taylor-Draper’s life off-screen away from Belle Dingle role

Emmerdale's Eden Taylor-Draper has played Belle Dingle on the ITV soap opera since she was a child and the cast member has given insights into her life off-screen in recent years

A number of actors have launched their careers with roles on Emmerdale but few have remained as central to the show as Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle.

In recent months, Belle has been subjected to domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband Tom King. Despite ending their relationship, she continues to suffer as she grapples with finding someone to confide in.

Although Belle has become increasingly prominent on the show, fans may not be as familiar with actor Eden’s life away from the soap. Born in Selby, Yorkshire, in 1997, she first appeared on Emmerdale at the age of eight in 2005.

Fast forward 19 years, and now age 26, Eden is an award-winning actor. Over the years, she’s been awarded the Best Dramatic Performance from a Young Actor or Actress Award and the Best Young Performance award at the British Soap Awards, as well as the Best Young Actor award at the Inside Soap Awards, as reported by LeedsLive.

Off-screen, Eden is in a long-term relationship with Ed Lewis, often posting pictures of them together on her Instagram page. She’s also given insights into her family, including having previously spoken about the impact of her sister Francesca’s cancer diagnosis at just 14 years old.

Eden, who was around 20 at the time, was a pillar of support for her sister, visiting her every week to lift her spirits and even staying with her in the hospital. Recalling those times, she once shared: “I stayed over a few times a week. Chessie had her bed and I had a little bed next to her. Mornings would be a snuggle, cup of tea and re-runs of Come Dine with Me. I tried to keep Chess as cosy as possible. We’d always say love you before bed, and that everything would be OK.”

Besides her sister, Eden has three other younger siblings named Sebastian, Pollyanna, and Posy, and is the eldest child of their parents Nicola, 51, and Richard, 49. Speaking about her sister’s cancer diagnosis, Eden expressed: “We’ve got such a strong family. When our mum puts her mind to something she’s always going to do it. She said, ‘You are getting better and that’s it. We’re going to get through it’.” Francesca is since said to be “doing really well” and Eden has taken on the role of an ambassador for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
