Emmerdale’s Charity ‘saved by surprise person’ after chilling Mack stabbing

EXCLUSIVE: Emmerdale's Charity Dingle is plunged into an even darker place after stabbing husband Mackenzie Boyd but actress Emma Atkins revealed she is saved by an unlikely person

Charity Dingle is saved by an unlikely person after stabbing Mackenzie Boyd.

The Woolpack barmaid’s mental health has been spiralling since she killed gangster Harry on Christmas Day to protect Mackenzie. Despite insisting nothing was wrong, Charity acted erratically in the pub during Thursday’s episode (February 22).

Charity’s mind got the better of her as she began having hallucinations of Harry terrorising her in her own home. After witnessing her strange behaviour, Mackenzie arrived home and could see his wife was having a nightmare.

Mackenzie attempted to wake her up before a traumatised Charity screamed: “Leave me alone,” lashing out at him with a knife. Mackenzie stumbled backwards, bleeding heavily.

She was frozen with fear, unable to function when Moira (Natalie J Robb) arrived. Charity could only mutter that she was sorry as Moira attempted to stop the bleeding.

An ambulance arrived and Mack was rushed to hospital before Charity was arrested by the police. Sharing more on the events that follow, Emma exclusively told Daily Star and other press that ex-partner Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is the person who steps up and helps her.

“She cuts herself off and it’s Cain who comes into the house and brings her to her senses a little bit,” the actress said. “He tells her that she needs to come out of this shell that she’s in and get help.

Emma, 48, added: “He takes her on this walk and they go through the woods. But she says she can’t be with or near anyone because she doesn’t trust herself. He asks if she would consider counselling.

“But Charity thinks as if she can unravel this hell hole of her life to someone. She just can’t because once she unravels, there’s no stopping what might come out.”

Emma explained that Cain knows counselling would be good for her, having watched Kyle go through it after killing Al. She went on: “But again, Charity tries to deny that she needs help.”

Chas (Lucy Pargeter) also comes to the rescue and Charity decides to book an appointment with the doctor. “She agrees that she needs real help,” Emma said.
