Emmerdale legend breaks silence on very unexpected Cain Dingle and Tom King twist

Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has opened up about Cain Dingle’s reaction to Tom King’s (James Chase) abuse of Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).

Shortly after Belle told Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) that her husband had physically and emotionally abused her for months on end, she made her way to Butlers to speak to Cain.

His anger growing over what his little sister has been through, Cain was desperate to do something to Tom, but Charity explained hurting him was the last thing they should be doing.

And Cain knew she was right.

Noticing Tom in the street, Cain approached him and for a second, it looked as though he was going to attack him. Instead, he walked straight past him, which left Tom fearful he may return for revenge later down the line.

In recent years, Cain has changed a great deal. Previously, if someone hurt a Dingle family member he was more than happy to make them pay through physical pain.

Here, star Jeff Hordley explains Cain’s reaction to Tom’s abuse of Belle and why he hasn’t responded to the ordeal through the use of his fists.

‘I think it’s good to see they’re not kind of going route one with him’, he told us at this year’s CureUsher ball.

‘He’s getting older, he’s getting more mature and approaching things differently.’

Elsewhere, Cain is also in the middle of supporting wife Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), who has a brain tumour.

In the initial aftermath of this, Moira was very reluctant to accept the offer of brain surgery, leaving Cain and her family to try and adapt to a new way of living.

However, after Moira experienced a seizure in front of son Isaac (Bobby Dunsmuir), she told Cain that she would have the surgery for Isaac and Kyle’s (Huey Quinn) sake.

‘It’s going to affect everything but that’s the whole point of the storyline’, Jeff said, reflecting on what lies ahead for Cain’s family.

‘Obviously we wanted to raise awareness with the actual issues are with Moira and the tumour, but we also wanted to highlight how the whole family is affected by this too.

‘It is certainly what happens in the unit as the story progresses.’
