EastEnders hints at another twist – as David hides a secret
David Wicks (Michael French) has made his grand return to EastEnders – and we already have so many questions about his arrival.
The legendary character had been contacted by Kat Mitchell (Jessie Wallace), who had become concerned for her pal Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) after noticing her erratic behaviour.
Bianca is, of course, the only one who believes that Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) has implicated her sister Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) for the murder of his comatose wife Debbie.
With nobody believing her claims, she hit the bottle and was later kicked out of The Queen Vic.
In tonight’s episode, she was stunned to see her estranged dad David back in Albert Square, and questioned why he’d dropped into the area. He explained that he was travelling Northbound for business, though it didn’t take long for Bianca to realise what was really going on.
After witnessing her kicking off, David asked Kat about what was going on, and she explained her suspicions that her pal could be depressed or have undiagnosed ADHD.

Over at No. 25, Reiss was taken aback to see David arrive on his doorstep and was quick to try and send him on his way. His unease was immediately noticed, and the returnee made his way inside.
Branding the murderer ‘either a psycho or a sad little loser in a cardigan’, he advised Reiss to take some time away so that he could step away from the drama for a while.
Later, Bianca was furious to see him strolling through the road with a suitcase in hand, revealing that he was going to spend some time in Peterborough to be closer to Sonia.
Convinced that he’d pulled the wool over David’s eyes, her rage was unleashed once again and he compared her behaviour to half-brother Joe Wicks’ (Paul Nicholls) schizophrenia.
But Bianca’s reaction wasn’t to be his only shock, as ex-flame Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had spent the day dodging him.
After first spotting David making his way into the laundrette, she fled to the alleyway behind the pub. There, ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) coaxed her into the upstairs flat so that she could explain her story.
As long term viewers know, back in the 90s, the pair had an intense affair that resulted in her hiring a hitman to kill husband Ian (Adam Woodyatt) so they could get their happily ever after.
The plot resulted in her being imprisoned, where she was later believed to have died during childbirth in 1998, before making a dramatic ‘return from the dead’ (released from witness protection) last year.
George questioned whether any of Cindy’s old feelings had resurfaced, and whether she would action them.
Although quick to shut him down, she did later approve David in the Square gardens.
Picking up his phone, he declined a call from someone called Holly – before realising who was stood behind him.
Who is Holly, and what will his reaction be to seeing Cindy alive and well?
Who is Holly?
Holly is the name of a mystery character linked to David with him seemingly avoiding her. He ignored a call from her on his phone on Monday, leaving fans all asking the same thing.
One viewer said: “WHO is Holly?” as another asked: “WHO IS HOLLY?” Some viewers think they know who it could be, with one suggesting: “Is she a new character?”
Another theory suggested it’s either his new partner or maybe someone linked to Joe. A fan said: “Probably a ex/current girlfriend or wife, that or she’s the wife of Joe Wicks (David’s son/Bianca’s brother) as he’s been mentioned.”
Who is Joe Wicks and is he returning?
As mentioned above, Joe Wicks is the son of David and brother of Bianca. He used to be on the show years ago, and was played by actor Paul Nicholls.
David spoke of Joe not being able to let things go in the latest episode, leading to Bianca calling him out. She screamed: “Why are you talking about Joe? Do you think I’m schizophrenic?”
Bianca was referencing a huge storyline for the former character as he battled with his mental health after the death of his sister Karen. After exhibiting strange behaviour he was diagnosed with the condition, and sadly he attempted to take his own life.
Joe left Walford back in 1997 a year on from his debut, moving away with his mum Lorraine. He was mentioned by David back in 2012, when David came back to say goodbye to his dying mother Pat Butcher.
There was mention of Joe having a girlfriend with two children while it was later revealed David had lost contact with his son. Years on it’s not clear whether he and Joe are back on talking terms. Given the mention of him, fans can’t help but wonder if a return is on the cards.
