As Cain joins the Joe whodunnit suspect line-up, here’s whether Jeff Hordley could be leaving Emmerdale

Was Cain the one to push Joe and what would that mean for Jeff Hordley?

Is Jeff Hordley leaving?

Cain Dingle – AKA actor Jeff Hordley – has dropped himself right in the thick of the Joe Tate whodunnit and there are fears he could be leaving Emmerdale. He announced to his family that they had to stop Joe from revealing the truth about Anthony’s m.u.r.d.e.r and now he looks, well, pretty guilty!

In the lead-up to Joe plunging from the window at Home Farm, he’d anbnoyed everyone. The guests at Lydia’s party all put two and two together and realised that Joe spiking Noah’s drink meant he was indirectly responsible for the d.e.a.t.h.s of Leyla, Amy and Suzy.

Charity was out for revenge and had spiked Joe’s drink to give him a taste of his own medicine.

And the m.u.r.d.e.r club – Chas, Cain, Ruby and Callum – were all plotting to keep Joe quiet.

Now viewers are wondering if the culprit could have been Cain.

And if it was Cain, and he’s banged up for m.u.r.d.e.r, does that mean his alter-ego – actor Jeff Hordley – is leaving the show, too?

Here’s what we know.

How long has Jeff Hordley been in Emmerdale?

This year marks 25 years since Cain Dingle arrived in the village! Though Jeff did take a few years away  from the show between 2006 and 2009. If you’ve been watching the Classic Emmerdale episodes currently airing on ITV3, you’ll know he recently left Emmerdale after seducing teenager Jasmine Thomas.

But Cain wasn’t away for long – just three years later he came back to Emmerdale and he’s been a fixture in the village ever since Cain’s return.

So is Cain Dingle leaving Emmerdale?

Back in February, Jeff was interviewed on ITV’s This Morning as part of the promo for the dramatic Valentine’s Day limo crash.

He admitted then that he never meant to stay so long!

“I remember joining for two years. Then two years turned into six years. I took a little break then I came back,” he said.

But he added that his time in Emmerdale has been a “wonderful ride”.

So we’re hoping that means he’s got no plans to leave any time soon. And in fact, as far as we can tell there are no hints that Cain’s going to be leaving the village.

Which is very good news. Though of course, we all know this is soap and anything can happen!
